What do you think should be done to stop Scammers?

as long as a MM is always used and you have the person PM you first 90% of scams wont work. If people would follow the rules things would be a lot better.

iv been scammed and i had a mm :O i brought an acc went on holiday for 2 weeks forgot acc pass and go to recover then omfg no recovs wtF? i did set them sooo wtf?

 

Always read stickies. The sticky in account section said buy accounts at your own risk.
MM can't protect your account to be not recovered by the other trader.
Accounts can always be recovered by the original owner.

 

Require everyone to validate their phone numbers and address, and report them to the police if they scam.

 

There is no way to stop scamming, but there are things that one can do to prevent it from happening more often.

Things you should always do:

1. Never go first to another.
2. Firstly, find an MM that is well trusted and will always be there to help you out or answer a question.
3. When doing business with someone, try to avoid leechers, or those under roughly 100-150 post count.
4. Always check other's vouches.
5. With their MSN addy, type it into Google and see what you find. You might find it being used on another account.
6. Do a search of their username from the front page, or used in the scammer section to see if there are currently any reports.
7. If doing account trades, require the chosen Middleman to recover the account before giving the agreed upon payment.
8. If trading someone with PayPal, make sure they are not bank funded or credit card funded, so it's difficult to charge back.
9. This and more are good ways to prevent scamming, even though it can still be done.

Yeah this is probably the best thing they can do to try and stop people scamming, I'm not 100% sure if the police would do anything about it but if someone scammed me for alot of money and i knew where they lived+ had their phone number i'd be able to get it back myself ^_^

 

Always use a trusted MM and ask the MM to recover the accounts to make sure the detail is correct.

 

Report their I.P to the F.B.I

 

Use an Official Middleman if the other person looks dodgey, and don't buy things which are recoverable (accounts, etc) from people that you don't trust completely - treat the account as something the other person can easily get back, and if you could trust them with that.

I haven't used a middleman for ages ._.

And how would you go about validating this information?

 

Few ways, it could take a bit of man power though, either 1 when you register you have to supply a phone number[Must be a land line to avoid people trying to set up phony sex lines or w/e to take money], and a member of sythe staff from the country that the person registering is from sends them a text with a verification number that they have to enter to verify their forum account.

Obviously this would mean covering the costs of texts, which isn't expensive when its just 1 person (5-25p depending on company etc etc) But obviously there is more then 1 person who would need their acc verified, So to cover costs Each person would have to send lets say £1/$1.50 or w/e to a seperate pay pall [like the old donation system]

Could be done like that, thats just a rough idea it'd obviously have to be thoguht through by sythe staff etc, and they'd have to come up with a system which best suits them.

I'd propose When you register You can post everywhere on sythe except the black market section, which you won't have permission to post on [simple enough to change some permision masks] and they have to verify their sythe acc with a system like the one above to gain access to the blackmarket section.

Everytime someone gets scammed is because they complain about they went first and trusted him and scammed my 999m.

Not always true, even if you use an mm people can still claim money back from paypall etc, using an mm/omm doesn't really solve all the different factors, theres still lots of ways people can scam you, i think confirmation via supplying a valid telephone number/adress would deter alot of scammers.
