Do you think in the future that many countries will adopt China's child birth policy to prevent overpopulation? Ive been thinking about this for a while and it may happen.

I wouldn't know about other countries, but I would like to say that the u.s won't. Don't quote me on it as anything is possible, I just highly doubt it will.

With the whole save the planet mentality the UN has adopted, I could see them restricting many things, including certain amounts of children. "Saving the world" comes at a high cost.

When the world goes full on neo-nazi, probably. We're not too far off it.

Not going to happen, as the people get more educated/wealthier the birth rate drops. There are already a fair amount of countries with negative birth rates (more deaths than births). The overpopulation theory is just stupid and lacks any real analysis. Just 1 of those things that is used to scare us into giving away our freedoms, same as the man made global warming bs.

Not happening. With the wars constantly going on everywhere in the world we are going to be fairly balanced as to the life/death toll. All these polls are garbage now-a-days anyways

Well, in my eyes, it's either control the birth rate, or control the death rate. With innovative technological and medical advances, the ability to keep humans alive more often and for longer has lead to an increased population. The only real way to fix this is to moderate the number of new humans brought to life, or the number of humans who die. Obviously, moderating the birth rate is the more humane way to do so. It's just a matter of how, and when.

^ Part of his predictions from 1964 state how population is already a growing issue then, and how he thought we would have a worldwide solution to the growing population issue in 2014.

No because there's going to be a war first or some kind of weather phenomena that will kill a good percentage of a country's population. As what I will bluntly say to this overpopulation issue, "What comes up must come down".

The population will eventually taper off at 9b or so with what's happening currently. Although that's stretching the limit of our planet's resources, it's definitely doable so I don't think birth restrictions will ever happen.

It surely would benefit New Zealand. It'd stop the dole bludging low lives from collecting benefits from the Government by have excessive amounts of children when they can't even afford to look after their first.

The world is already way over carrying capacity, especially with our current habits. If the entire world lived as a typical (note: not edge case, but typical) American, we would need 6 Earths to fulfil that need. That's unsustainable and disgusting, and as we all know, the Western way of life of "consume, reproduce" won't be changing anytime soon. The only solution is population control.

If everyone lived like your average Indian countryman, then perhaps we could stay at 7 billion for a while longer than expected.

I think people on welfare in the USA should be limited to 2 kids or the removal of welfare assistance. Tired of seeing people have 10 kids and not a pot to piss in. Living off the social security ill never have when i get older.
