What are your thoughts on religion?

My personal thoughts is: It is a load of BS. Religion is made up by some guy in a beard, and at a young age you are told to follow it. Nothing good has ever come out of religion. Just persecution and death.
    Thoughts?

I think that religion is not fact, but on the contrary, a bunch of fiction stories created to give people some hope.

Faith sometimes can make people good, but it can also make people crazy. Religion is more or less , to me, a scapegoat for people to blame things on. Anything. A makeshift answer to the un-answerable questions in life.

I believe that without religion, the world would still have persecution and killings, but just for different things. Such as wearing striped shirts, or living in a two story house.

People are always going to have to hate someone else for some odd reason, religion just helps them to do that, and feel good about themselves for doing it because their entity says it's the right thing to do.

Speaking solely from Christianity, following the basic principles of the bible (kindness, forgiveness, etc.) is overall positive, but when people start taking the stories as fact a lot can go wrong (Shirly Phelps).

That's Pascal's Wager, and it is very broken. It as applicable to anything. For instance: wouldn't you rather believe in the letter 'a'? If you believe in 'a' and 'a' is real, and true, and all of that good stuff, and you believed in him, then you will go to his form of Heaven; but, if 'a' is not, then you've lost nothing, right?

Why don't you believe in Thor, or Mithras, or Zeus, or Dionysus, or Allah -- yes, Allah is Yahweh, but in a different form. If the previously mentioned deities -- who are not even the smallest fraction of the infinite deities -- then you'll be fine, but if not, you're screwed.

It's the simple fact people follow a specific religion but not knowing what it's really about. Some say oh my the god is good ect...but they have no clue what he expects from them as a person. They just think well i can steal but hes gonna forgive me oh yeah and i can disrespect my mother just this one time he will forgive me.

They have no clue of the words he spoke/said or his point he tried to get across and it pisses me off.

Overall religion makes some people actually try to be nice/good for hopes of going to heaven or whatever it is they believe in.

What are your thoughts on religion?

I personally believe in some aspects of some religions.
For example, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Buddhism all share one common thing, reincarnation, which i strongly believe in. In Buddhism, you are not to do anything wrong, harm people, drink, smoke, etc. I dont really believe in that but it goes with what older people think (right from wrong, doing the right thing etc.) Now Sikhism allows u to drink, and all that but they say that you pay for everything bad you've done when you die, which sorta makes sense, and ties in with Buddhism (they believe that when you die, according to your deeds when you were alive, you will be reincarnated accordingly).
Now my views on Muslims and Christians is very simple, its all a lie, and is not any more believable than a holy spaghetti god.
In conclusion, my main belief is in Reincarnation, and that you pay for everything bad you've done some way in your life, (karma). But everyone can believe anything they want.

What are your thoughts on religion?

It has no correlation to hinduism and buddhism. sikhism is a monotheistic religon. Guru Gobind Singh wrote down a code of conduct for all sikhs (Rehat Maryada) saying that an individual baptised must not cut their hair, drink alcohol, consume narcotics or any drugs, involve themselves in sexual affairs apart from their spouse, and to eat meat.

Personally i think sikhism as young as a religion it is, is full with great and heroic history.

My ''personal thoughts'' are that your view is farfetched and a tad crude (just like religion, incidentally). I also believe that the claim ''nothing good has come from religion'' is, too, farfetched. Religion has imbued many lives with invigoration; has rejuvenated the lives of disconsolated humans with little else to live for. Whilst religion may, in many ways, be responsible for disease, death and intolerance, a lot of good comes concurrently from it. Many religions propagate love and virtuousness, and I say that there is nothing in the world like love. It's proven day by day that it's what this world needs plenty of.

Actually, there are no benefits in believing in the Greek gods. As well, the Greek gods can hardly hold a finger in benefits up to an omnipotent god. I'm not confirming the validity of Pascal's Wager - I'm merely correcting your refutation.
