Do you believe in that?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masaru_Emoto#Water_crystal_work_and_criticism

Emoto's water crystal experiments consist of exposing water in glasses to different words, pictures, or music, and then freezing and examining the aesthetics of the resulting crystals with microscopic photography. [2]
Commentators have criticized Emoto for insufficient experimental controls,[3] and for not sharing enough details of his approach with the scientific community. [4] In addition, Emoto has been criticized for designing his experiments in ways that leave them open to human error influencing his findings. [5]
In the day-to-day work of his group, the creativity of the photographers rather than the rigor of the experiment is an explicit policy of Emoto.[6] Emoto freely acknowledges that he is not a scientist,[7] and that photographers are instructed to select the most pleasing photographs.[8]
In 2006, Emoto published a paper together with Dean Radin and others in the peer-reviewed Explore: The Journal of Science and Healing, in which they describe that in a double blind test approximately 2000 people in Tokyo could increase the aesthetic appeal of water stored in a room in California, compared to water in another room, solely through their positive intentions.[9]
James Randi, founder of the James Randi Educational Foundation, has publicly offered Emoto one million dollars if his results can be reproduced in a double-blind study.[10] Randi has also stated that he does not expect to ever have to pay the million dollars. Kristopher Setchfield, (BA, Health Science) from Castleton State College (Natural Science Department) in Vermont has made a paper called "Review and analysis of Dr. Masaru Emoto’s published work on the effects of external stimuli on the structural formation of ice crystals"[11].
He concludes the following:
It is this crucial lack of scientific foundation that prevents Dr. Emoto’s work from attracting interest by widely accepted and respected scientists at long-standing research institutions. This is unfortunate for the world if there is, after all, truth to his claims--as reproduction of his results by any scientist would lend much credence to his work. A little change in Emoto’s experimental design would do great things for the credibility of his claims. I recommend the following to ground his work in sound scientific principle:
  • Eliminate the possibility of the scientist’s bias affecting the experiment’s results by implementing double blind procedures.
  • Publish the entire collection of photos for all water sample tests that he has performed, not just the ones that support his claim.
  • Minimize the sources of possible error in his procedures, such as variation in temperature and humidity between sample.
  • Pay more attention to the time-tested methods of the scientific community rather than disregarding them. Emoto’s research could go much farther if he could interest scientists around the world in testing his hypothesis.
After the lengthy review of Emoto’s research methods and results, I have come to believe that Dr. Emoto is offering pseudoscience to the masses in the guise of defensible research. Only time and review by others will tell if there is any truth at the heart of Mr. Emoto’s claims, as Emoto himself thoroughly believes in his findings but does not value the scientific method or community. What is truly fearsome is the great numbers of people that accept his words as proven facts without looking deeper to find out if his claims are truly justified. While I respect Dr. Emoto’s desire to save the Earth’s water from contamination and pollution, unless he can produce a scientific paper and get it published in a scientific journal, I believe that he will continue to be ignored by the scientific community, and his claims will never be soundly proved or disproved

Not exactly rigorous science, is it?

Have you read my article? Life as in respond to you. Not that literally "life".

I've skimmed the article. I thought you mean life, as in, knowing what it does.
I don't really know how that Emoto guy gets those crystals the way they are, but I think it has something to do with the environment, air pressure, temperature, humidity, etc.

But some things cant be explain. All I ask is if you believe it or not. Maybe you believe in a scientific approach. For example why are you borned in America and not in Russia? Why? You can't explain all this can't you?

I disbelieve in all things until they can be proven.

Emoto is not using the scientific method at all. His data is incomplete, and his results are probably biased. It would be jumping the gun to try to draw any conclusions at this point.

I had to be born somewhere, didn't I?

Well..Lets say that you didn't proof it "scientifically" about where would you be born and how come you were born in 1990 for example, that does not mean I don't believe your existence even if you're born in 2010.

About the data, maybe you or we do an experiment and see if its true.

I honestly have no idea what you just said.

Water is made up of elements which are not living. Therefore water could not be living, could it? Do you see water walking around, and breathing, NO.
If you could explain your past few posts (because honestly, your english is ghastly, and I don't know what your saying) I could furthermore discuss this. As of now I find this thread incredibly stupid.

If I knew you in real life, you would probably believe me about my age because:

- I don't lie.
- I have documentation to prove it.
- I look my age.

You seem to be mixing up "proving beyond a reasonable doubt" (which is what Emoto has to do) and "proving beyond any and all doubts, realistic or not".

Not only that, but they can check your age scientificly by looking at your teeth. Ever heard of wisdom teeth?

I dont think it does. Yet some people (including my dumb science teacher) think it does. But, i guess thats why he gets paid $30,000 a year l0l.

Some people could consider it life though. Like when/if they find water on mars. Some people would say they found life on mars, some people would say they found the same junk that takes up 75% of our continent. I guess it depends which way you look at it though.

I had a almost 2 hours discussion about this experiment in school.
Emoto is just wrong with his conclusion. Ice crystals never are the same and form different according to various external conditions.
In the end this just a way to make more money.

When he is born is down to when his parents had sexual intercourse, and how successful fertilisation was. What're you trying to say? A person's existence starts from conception, unless you have the religious or moral belief that someone's a person after a certain stage in the pregnancy... what you said makes absolutely no sense, in that, if he is born in 2010, he doesn't exist yet, unless you believe in a different plane, whether spiritual or w/e.
