Wanting to learn how to Code

Growing up as a kid I've always loved playing on the computers or being around the computers, so I've decided to attempt to learn how to code. I just have a few questions like:

What language is the easiest (if there are easy ones)?

How long does it take to learn a language? (I can be very dedicated)

What kind of math is involved in that language?

    How can I start out?

To get up and running with the fundamentals just use some modern language like C# or Java. That will help you grasp the concept of the basic principles. If you want to work in the industry, either pursue it at university and look to get a placement or build up a portfolio of work and apply to companies straight away.

I think learning Java would be best for a beginner because it's a high-level programming language.

What exactly are you hoping to get out of learning how to code? It's hard to say how long it would take to learn a programming language without knowing what you want to do with it, if it's even possible to put such a timeframe on it. Learning the basics might take a while if you have zero prior programming language, but you should be able to catch on quickly afterwards.

If you choose Java, download an IDE like Eclipse. You can look at the API online (http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/) which lists all of the built-in classes and methods.

Honestly, you should try web development. It is super easy to get into and there are loads of resources available.

Python is pretty easy to learn for a proggramming language. Most languages have a lot of overlapping concepts with a little different syntax. You should pick a language that does what you're most interested in.

You can get started quickly, but it will take a while before you can make meaningful applications. Coding is a skill just because you know a language doesn't mean you're a great coder.

Programming is basically a form of algebra. You don't need to be a math expert to know how to code, but knowing math concepts will help you write more efficient and shorter agorithms.

Search for a IDE (Integrated Development Environments) and the language you want to learn. Eclipse is probably the most popular IDE
    https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/
Then search for a hello world tutorial and run it. There's a bunch of tutorials online you can search for.

Python is a very nice programming language. It will teach you the basics.
There is no set time to be perfect at a programming language. You can be a programmer for 5 years and still learn things.
Math is very useful whilst programming. You have to know a good bit of it to be a successful programmer.
You can go to this site: http://www.codecademy.com/ to learn how to web develop and learn Python aswell. I use it from time to time.
Popular IDEs are all of the Jetbrains IDEs.

Meh if you want the easy way out, just do VB.NET. You'd be able to make anything you want in it and you'd learn the .NET framework at the same time so going to C# later if you wanted would be simple.

The only issue with VB is that it's unlike any other language, so it might teach you some bad habits. I started with VB and know fucking like everything now so if I can do it so can you.

Also, if you have questions, feel free to post them in the help subforum. Plenty of us know at least something about coding and will happily help you out. As for languages, I'd say try java or python but I'm biased towards preferring java since it's what I know best :p

Yes it is. I hate it with all the passion in the world. But... it is great for beginners. They can build something that actually does something in about a minute. It's much more relevant to what many of them will want to do (web dev) and more relevant to what a lot of hipsters are doing. And there is a shit ton of tutorials ad stuff.

best thing to do would be to start with HTML/CSS3 and just learn from there the concept of coding

My main intention right now is to code a script for botting on Runescape. What would be the best choice there?

i don't think you will be able to attain that kind of script knowledge very quick in order to make a bot that works well. i think bots are made out of javascript? not all, im not too sure. you just need to learn basic coding and grasp the concept and ideas, etc. go to moparscape forums

My first ever language was Visual Basic when I was 10 years old. But I would recommend some more advanced languages like .NET C# or C++ to get a hang of the syntax.
