Virus/Pop-up Add's {Help!}

Hey,
My computer seems to be running VERY slow and i keep getting pop up add's, i downloaded AVG and run a scan and it found some add things and put them in the chest but they are still poping up, is there anything i can get specificly for adds or is there a better virus scanner.

Why might it be running slow??

Get malwarebytes or spybot seach & destroy. install and run both. I would also suggest downloading blacklight and search for rootkits. Also, CCleaner works wonders.
