Pick the language that seems the most interesting to you. If you've got zero interest, there's no way in hell you'll be able to learn it.

I'd personally pick Japanese.

I'd say go for japanese. This would make you trilingual, which would be a phenomenal thing to put on a job application after your ROTC program, in the case you chose to pursue a career in the air force.

 

So far I found it really easy, I'm great with memorization so the characters don't prove to be a problem so far, and their sentence structure just makes sense to me

Russian because that will be the world language when the Nuclear Winter comes.

 

I guess Japanese would be a bit harder for an English speaker, being an agglutinative language and all, while English is mostly isolating.

I think the most difficult thing as an English speaker is the tonal significance in those kinds of languages. With chinese, you really have to iterate the correct tone, japanese has its nuances I'm sure, then there's languages like Romanian... Saying the same word "red" with 10 different inflections dictates the shade of red, not something I'd be able to keep up with...

But I think I have a handle on Chinese so far, despite my being tone deaf :c

 

I would say chinese....Mandarin is one of the most spoken languages in the world and with china set to be the next super power, you would probably be better off with that.

Chinese is one of the hardest languages to pick up, but in today's society is the most applicable (With the exception of maybe Spanish if you live in a hispanic-dense part of the US. i.e. Texas/Cali)

 

An agglutinative language slaps tiny bits called morphemes into words. They carry meanings isolating languages have to use separate words for. Example:

Finnish: kauppaankinko?

English: into (the) store too?

The morphemes essentially become a part of the word, which can be a major issue to users of isolating languages when learning how to actually use the language. apparently finnish has 51 declension types, suck on that, foreign people. (also: the table only lists 4 of the 15 grammatical cases, at least 12 of which are in common use)

If you want to be based in Japan, do Japanese, that just makes sense. As for practicality, Chinese for sure.
