I think its debatable whether or not asking where to discuss phishing is considered discussion of phishing. Thats my two cents, but hey who reads the rules anyways.

Honestly, by instantly banning and kicking him from this site permanently (after he tried to correct his mistake and edited his post) you are just inviting him to come back to phish on a new account after he pulls a few google searches.

"Password Cracking: including the creation, help in creation, use, discussion, and/or distribution of crackers (this includes recovering Runescape accounts without permission from the owner)(Includes Phishing)"

edit: the point of this post was to point out that the rules say nothing about what everyone so clearly states as "interest" being against the rules. I'm not defending him just stating that it isn't in writing and I don't know how everyone has the same idea thats its an "understood" rule.

Can I get banned for stating that he will find phishing information from google? If so I should probably edit my post. Oh wait, even if I edit it, it apparently wouldn't make a difference.

Use some adjectives to describe phishing.

    Denied.

Don't take it to the heart.
You don't know the kid who got banned, so you say? What if he was giving out links on here?

    Phishing:
Illegal in the US (many more countries as well)
    Not allowed in/on RS
    Not allowed in/on Sythe.

    Luring:
    Not illegal
    Not against RS rules
    Not against Sythe rules

I feel staff shouldn't be so cold in their replies also.

First off, those aren't adjectives. Second, if we go off of what Karl previously stated, luring should be in the same boat. There's nothing honest about luring. It's pure deceit.

If someone takes advantage of someone in a game, what's to stop them doing it here?

Of course I do not know Mage. But I that does not necessarily indicate that I would not take on his case.
Furthermore; I believe there is a distinct difference between what is 'legal' and what is deemed to be 'moral'. Luring; although not prescribed as 'illegal' in any context, is just as morally deficit as an act of phishing. It's simply authoritative discern that separates the two.

The difference is that people who grow up phishing runescape accounts may end up phishing credit cards and stealing identities.

People who grow up luring runescape would end up robbing houses, mugging, and scamming.

Whats the difference you ask? People who lure on runescape don't have the balls to face someone in real life. While people who phish behind the protection of their computer remain behind their computer.

I believe I partially understand all of the stances taken and the sides shown.

The Admins/Mods of Sythe are not necessarily being cold when they just put a simple "Denied". 99% of the time if you read through the Appeal/Pardon you can tell why they are Denying it.

I understand that to some people it seems really cold hearted and it seems as if they are pushing you to the side at a quick glance, but im sure its just a misunderstanding.

This is the internet... and feelings/expressions are not visible. That is what makes communication thats not Face to Face so hard to interpret.

I personally believe that they should write a short excerpt that explains why the person was banned so there are no misunderstandings.

Even if he was warrent for a ban, he requested that some kind of explanation be given. The response was more or less a slap to the face.

I support giving a better response than just saying denied.

Yes, but as for my recent ban I wasn;t shown such courtesy.

As for this situation, the person obviously wasn't malicious and even reported his own thread. Sythe's rules are SHIT imo. You are allowed to sell glitches that SCAM people on runescape ( for items that hold some IRL value ) yet you can't even talk about anything that could take "advantage" of another user.

My only opinion on this is mods who like to use their powers.
