Want to possibly avoid someone recovering a sold account?

have a list of EVERY account sold on sythe (login name).

difficult? yes
impossible? maybe
would it work? potentially

one way to do this would be to have all threads locked until a moderator verifies them*

*yes, it would be near-impossible, but this would cut account scamming by *a decent amount* and increasing the number of market mods couldn't hurt.

EDIT there is a list of accounts used to scam, but that does not get updated nearly enough (or at all?) and few people know about it.

 

Sorry, but i disagree. You need to have dedicated mods, not just any random person. Also, it's really nobody's fault but the buyer if the account gets recovered.

 

Having a list of all accounts sold on Sythe would make it waaaay too easy for Jagex to just run through and ban them.

As it is we have a list of 400 accounts not to buy, and I think that list does it's job well enough.

 

No support. Considering three reasons. One being Jagex seeing a list of accounts to ban. Two people may try to cover up the real login name with a display name, after being sold and recovered to be resold. And finally three, it'll give the current market moderators a job that no one would want to do.

Even after checking that the info passes the recovery test, accounts can still be recovered. I don't know how you got your 75% number, that seems entirely fake. Also, people could just use middlemen when conducting these trades and it would eliminate the need for these kinds of people to verify accounts

There's no need to pick numbers out of the air (75%).

And as previously mentioned, because there is display names, it's easy to say your selling this account but the login name could be that of a recovered account... it's very easy to bypass.

thats the point of a middleman not only would this put extra work on mods but also it would make traders think its safe to trade without a middleman this would only cause more scams

the point of this would be for accounts that have been traded multiple times and are frequently used for scams, not for first-time-sold accounts.

75% is an eye-catcher.



at the end of the day a radical new solution is needed to seriously put a dent in account scams. obviously this would be very difficult to put into place, but i believe it would be somewhat effective.

 

Jagex can see Sythe.

He was saying the list may contain login names, but the selling thread would just be of a display name, covering it up.

 

No support until more staff is added in order to actually complete this. Thats my reason, they would need way more dedicated staff in order to do this.

 

no they cant. in the t/c it states you cannot be associated with jagex in any way if you wish to view this site.

 

Jagex disallow RWTing , botting in Runescape too.
