User Education: A Fresh Start

I like the idea of adding this back, could definitely increase activity in the section and to the site in general.

The OGV team doesn't exist anymore..^_^

 

I like this a lot. It created a lot of activity in the section and I feel like it was originally closed due to a grudge Finn had, not that the section wasn't doing poorly.

 

I wasn't around when you started this up but from what I've read people take a lot of interest in it, and when you speak about guides do you just mean general guides about anything/everything? Like http://www.sythe.org/community-general/1628407-keep-your-skype-safe.html for example.

 

They were real life guides. I remember to become a UE I wrote a guide on how to middleman, and a few more relating to how to preform tasks on a Mac and whatnot. There were a lot of self improvement guides like on how to work out and whatnot. Pretty much anything not game related.

 

Honestly sounds like a pretty good idea. As far as I can tell I see no 'cons' to it. Would be something good to have, surely support it.

 

Getting the rank after one or two months of proven activity (Successfully completing the checklist, etc) wouldn't be a huge issue either. Just to stress that members need to understand they have to work hard to ensure they get the whole "recognition" side.

It's not all about guides, but you can still create them

I was hoping it wasn't just me who felt this way. It really did seem to have a positive impact on the site. The only downside I could see was at times their was drama, but I guess Sythe kinda thrives on it.

You can probably flick through the Archives and find all the older guides, they were never deleted. Some were Sythe related, but the majority of the time it was just Real Life. It was kinda like an active version of the current guides section.

 

Sounds like what CDT is supposed to do, minus the guides portion.....

Please suf dont do this. if CDT ends up getting a rank that will be bad enough. If UE comes back.... Sythe will basically become a gay porno of kids slobbin the knob for staff.

 

CDT is about creating more of a community, User Education relates to assisting them. You were a part of the UE team, remember how the checklist was about Guides, answering questions in Sythe Support + Help & Requests as well as other things?

 

Even if they were to bring back the OGV, there's still not much activity or intrest in the RS/RS Guides section. Back when RS was more active there were more constant guides being sold, and right now there's not that many quality ones.

 

You can't apply for CDT unless they need new people, so what you said makes no fucking sense lol.

UE would only help Sythe, good guides = pageviews.

 

I support this.
When the UE team was about, the guides section was extremely active compared to what it is now. As well as the other support sections.

I myself probably wouldn't have made the guides I did without UE and it would be good to have a bit of motivation to do so again.

 

User Educators will not be taking on the purpose of the former OGV team.

 

I hate getting nosy, but are their grounds for that decision? Personally it doesn't bother me, I'm more for the UE coming back for their original purpose.

 

I fully support the return of the UE team. But I don't agree with some of your ideas SuF. I'll delve further into it later on.

 

I would not mind seeing the section return. I've actually anticipated it.

There are suggestions I support in the initial guidelines and some I do not, but I currently do not have sufficient time to comment.​

 

U.E. brought a lot of activity to the forums but it made user educators think that they were superior.

I support, although, there should be no ranks for educators.

 

It's a bad idea as a former HUE, it just doesn't work/

Without trying to come off as an asshole,

It's just people making useless guides and trying to climb the websites hierachy, I don't recall one positive thing coming from the section.

 

Activity, user retention, search hits, some useful information, etc.
