User Ed's and Middlemen Name's Colored

As is, according to Matthew and Steph, only staff gets colored names. I am not here to say that, that is wrong, but I want to point out the fact that both ranks have done their fair share to deserve colored names. I would have put this in suggestions, but it's not a suggestion, it's the part before the suggestion to see how many people believe that User Ed's and Middlemen should get their names colored.

Before you say only Middlemen, or only User Ed's, realize that both have contributed their fair share to Sythe.org, and as such both should get it. The poll is broken up in four for a reason simply for speaking purposes. Before you vote, or when you do, please post a reasoning of why you believe such.

To remind everyone what we do:


User Educators: We educate the site, and post tutorials to help our users in anything they might need. We also answer questions, and solve problems. Though we may be abused very much, we are always here for when ya need us.

Middlemen: Take part in RuneScape trades for a fee to ensure the safety of both parties to the best of their ability. Middlemen have saved MILLIONS of GP from everyday bad trades, and have ensured a safer community for us all.

That being said, you now know what we do..


A colored name may not seem like much, but it is a very good way to stand out. MY reasoning for why they should be given is because we have done a lot of work, and deserve it. Also, it is much easier to scroll to the bottom and look for a middleman to help in a trade or a User educator to answer a question, than it is to post a thread, and wait for a response.

Having colored names would greatly help.. but that suggestions for later.

Right now, I would like to see what the public has to say.

That would be a lot of colored names. We don't really need that much clutter.

Also, one of the reasons I think that the names are colored is to be noticed more yes, but for more than a reason to look cool in my opinion. It also is easier for regular users to find moderators and report things to them faster.

 

I covered that Viny. It is important for UE's to be asked questions, and for Middlemen to be found as much as a moderator. We are equally important.. no we do not control the site... but we assist the site just as much.

And yes, it IS to be noticed... not being noticed is a very annoying thing..

 

To be honest I'm skeptical of that. If a user is going to ask you a question, it'll probably be related to a guide you posted. If that's the case, they will KNOW who the author of that guide was, and simply PM them.

When middlemen want to MM trades they will log in to their public IM accounts. People will message them there.

 

Middlemen only, I dont think User Educators need them, because its an easy rank/position to get and many people can get it if they want a colored name. Middlemen it takes alot to get there. :-/

 

HAHAHA... No. Trust me... User Ed is getting harder to get into... Much.. much harder.. just give it a bit..

User Ed isn't ALL about the guides.. it's also answering questions and helping out.. the only reason we aren't used as much is because we're becoming negated. Should we be asked questions more, you'd see us around more.. and trust me... if people knew about user education.. then they'd use it.

 

Middlemen only. User Ed isnt that hard to achieve.

Both do a good bit of work and that is a good thing. As I see it, only people that have the power to moderate a forum have colored names, there's no reason to start changing that. If they are given colored names then what about VB Programmers, PHP Programmers, Honorable Donaters, Frequent IRC Users, etc.

 

Head User Educators don't have colored names, and they moderate forums.

 

That's true. I have nothing to argue.

 

I would vote for middlemen if not neither. I would say Head UE's, but not regulars. It would give newer members the impression that they are more trustworthy than normal members. Middlemen are trustworthy, so if any should have the special name color they should.

 

They don't qualify as staff, they can't view the staff lounge, they can't give input on staff decisions, and were never intended to have access to the moderator control panel.

They were given mod power in the User Education forums to move/close/delete applications as they were being discussed/accepted/rejected.

 

Id say neither should get coloured names, but mayeb mms just so if someone need him to mm they could see. But as for user eds... theres way to many to have coloured names.

But all in all, neither should have coloured names.

 

This has been mentioned time and time again, and in fact, it is a suggestion. Although I would like to see it, there's no point in doing this, it will only annoy them and probably lesson the chances of it actually becoming a reality.

 

I don't wanna be a bitch or anything but I don't really think user ed do as much work as regular moderators. You don't have to ban, look through threads for inappropriate posts, move threads, scan files for viruses.

The only reason I voted colored names for official MMs is because it would help people to be aware of which people who are trusted officials.

And it is a suggestion Dorito.. yes.. I'm not asking for it yet.. I'm seeing what majority would like to see it... it's a process.. you see who agrees with a bill, then you try and pass the bill.
