i was referring to this thread : Use Watermarks To Avoid Getting Scammed!

1st : this can't stop from you getting scammed ( i will explain it later )
2nd : there's no way you can stop a scammer , unless you ask for down payment or full payment first.
3rd : its funny how you even put a tutorial on how to make a watermark (remember you're posting in a section full of designers
lastly : no , that guideline is bullshit .

here's how a scammer can scam you even if you put a bunch of watermarks around your work .

scammer : can i request a mascot logo ? here's an example of what i want ( sent examples )
designer : sure , will do that for $80
scammer : okay , i will pay once im satisfied with the result , just put watermarks
    in next day ..
designer : ( sent the preview of the logo mascot with watermarks )
scammer : ( contacted a fiverrr designer ) hey , how much you charge for just tracing this logo ?
fiverrr designer : will just do that for $10
    scammer : okay deal

and ladies and gentlemen, now tell me if that guide can stop scammers ?

    this is quite helpful.
Scammers cannot really be fully stopped, but you can always help prevent others from being scammed

Yes, that sticky is very outdated. Watermarks can be removed ridiculously easy and is does not shield your work from piracy. A better alternative would be to send your customer a low quality preview that can not be improved or re-created unless you've got the project files. But I would personally never take this route.

Payment should always be taken upfront.
It's simple - your time is valuable. A customer could basically ask 10 different designers to make him a design and pick the one he is most satisfied with, without compensating the other 9 for their wasted time.
