What do you think the War on Drugs will have effect will be on the election?

Personally, I believe that a candidate's state on this issue can make or break them.

Mostly, marijuana will be the main argument point.

Is this when it's going to end? When pot will be legalized? Opinions.

    I LOVE WEED.

there really isn't a war on drugs, and hasn't been since the Regan administration.

Sure candidates will probably state that their for or against the medical use of marijuana, but it doesn't matter. You as a voter have to be retarded to believe that your state candidate can just magically make marijuana legal because they say they want to.

If weed gets legalized then that shit will be taxed and that will mean higher prices.. so it wouldnt be a good thing. but i dont think it will be legalized any time soon.

I don't understand why people think this? If the prices raise my dealer will just continue to sell it to me =| ?

Um. If they legalized it, the supply of it would sky rocket as investors jumped on it because it is already a massive market. Thus, the cost of it would fall extremely quickly based on supply but also because of the fact that it is legal and extra steps are not needed in order to get it from the seller to the buyer. Throw in a shit ton of tax on top of the small amount needed to grow, package, sell and regulate it and it should still be cheaper and higher quality than it is now.

If they want the issues surrounding marijuana-- such as illegal marijuana sales, laced weed, and drug trafficking-- then they need to legalize the use, and regulate the sales through the state.
    1) It will be a major income for the government with the tax they can impose
    2) It will stop people from having to resort to shady distributers who likely sell dangerous products, intentionally or unintentionally. You may say "y da fuck would someone botch their sales and lose their customers like that???" Well because some people are crazy. They may also be confident they won't lose customers if they're the only ones who dare grow it in their area...
    3) It will bring in MORE money as we buy crops from foreign countries for cheaper, which will effectively eliminate that whole part of the problem with trafficking. PLEASE NOTE: I'm not saying we should legalize all the other illegal substances which are smuggled into the country to fix the problem. This is just one facet we can prevent with hardly any drawbacks.
And 4, on a not-so-related topic) Hemp is an extremely useful and versatile product.

I don't smoke weed, nor do I condone it's use, but it's ridiculous to make its use illegal when it's less harmful than alcohol. When it has so many health benefits. The drug fights pain and cancer for fuck's sake.

They need to rework the system to hold people responsible for their own actions. However, honestly, I think at best marijuana will be legalized.

It's a pretty big topic, however, I think the main focus will be on the government's debt and the financial crisis. Ron Paul 2012 :p
