upgrade for my pc

well my mom won't buy me a new computer so i have to juice this 1 up

currently i am running windows xp Home edition service pack 3

i have about 500 usd to spend can someone tell me what i can buy to maybe boost the speed a tad bit

 

I think you'd be better off just buying a new pc... if you wanted to upgrade this, you'd be looking at upgrading the graphics card, motherboard (for multi core support), CPU, RAM memory(, power supply). Which is pretty much all that's in the case.

 

yeah but me getting a new pc won't be possible since my mom won't buy me one

i really mean to upgrade it for gaming purposes

 

What motherboard is in your rig right now?... Or.. do you know if your motherboard has a PCI-e slot available?


And if you want to increase speed try overclocking your processor, just make sure you have some sort of aftermarket cooling.

 

Buy a new motherboard, processor, and ram. You can get all this for under 500$ from newegg.com

Get a motherboard with 2-4 RAM slots, grab two 2GB sticks, or four 1GB sticks of RAM. Should help significantly.

Dual-Core Processor, 2.0GHz+ with 64-bit support. You should also upgrade your harddrive if possible.

The last I saw 256MB of RAM, was... Lol. 2003?

build a new one.

 

Just beg your mum that you need a new computer, take out the ram of the old one and say "oh no, the computer won't work" then she will think that you just need a new one. lol

Tbh your 500 usd could get you a hefty entry level gaming computer. Check newegg.com for good deals and stuff.
