Update to Vouches

What's the difference between this and "feedback" it's just a slightly different format?

 

You can put a form to have the feedback increased depending on the number of vouches you have and many an admin can increase it without having the users put feedback. Obviously for old vouches, but just brainstorming.

 

Vouch number is meaningless to a trader who trades correctly. I can have 150 vouches for selling 1 or 2 upgrades, but that is nothing compared to 20 or 30 vouches for selling 1 - 2b. Quality, not quantity. Also this has already been suggested for vB4. Remember all those x339 suggestion threads? it was in one of those and was widely discussed.

 

Maybe there could be some way implemented that would allow you to organize your vouches then, under different categories? Obviously it would be too cluttered if they were to name one for every kind(a lot of which would be blank to many users who focus on one or a few areas) but maybe they could have editable category titles. Whether or not that's possible though I have no clue because I'm not as familiar with vb site, etc. lingo, lol...

Also, I know not everyone does but I do know of some users who like to take a quick browse through the vouches of someone who's making a deal with them, just to see what kind of deals they've made before.

 

In a feedback system, all previous vouches would be nulled, and couldn't be added onto the account, except - possibly - manually with a Mod (not sure if that's possible or not though).

Many people have worked hard to work up a bit of a reputation, and whilst older members may know them to be trustworthy, what would happen to a new member coming and seeing these users with only 5 feedback, or whatever, in comparison to the 500 vouches they used to have?

 

Vouches are easier to control imho, easier to report too. (As it's a post)

I would like to see this but there is a problem... Number of vouches matters, but not as much as value. (Check Emporer's post above) Also, many users have their vouch threads posted in their sigs anyway.

 

Seems like a lot of work for something that isn't really an issue, the current way allows us to check if the post is legitimate (checking if its a selfvouch), and is easy to remove a vouch if you want to, and the threads are also easy to find/use, it may be a little harder to navigate to someones profile then vouches.
I think a vouch thread link being able to be added onto your Postbit would be cool, though.

 

Sure, the system works, but this would be more convenient, if imoplemented correctly.

Agreed and maybe a count on how many you have hyperlinked to your vouch thread on your Postbit.

 

If this idea ever gets implemented, I can only imagine the hassle with transfering existing vouches over to the profile.

To be honest, do not fix something which isn't broken.

 

I can see what you're saying, but if moderators had the privilege to handle adding these vouches to the members profile, it could give them all a bit of work. Seeing RaSp and RaSc are both empty at the moment

Like I said before this would be really nice and I think in the long run it will be a bit smoother and cleaner than the current system, but I guess it isn't necessary.

 

This is effectively a feedback system. We've been over this and I actually quite like the idea as a whole - especially if negative/neutral feedback is disabled and some rules are set up for what can and can't be vouched for. The main issue is converting existing vouches into feedback and either Sythe would have to build a php script to loop through vouch threads and add all those to profiles of the correct users (and of course this leaves out vouches left in service or MM threads as well as being very intensive and likely would keep sythe offline for about a day during processing) or it would have to be partially integrated and that would confuse new users and create issues for staff

The issue with this is sheer quantity.
Currently active sythe members have thousands upon thousands of vouches, and the entire count for the whole database is probably well over 50,000. Even leaving out banned users, at least 20-30k would have to be dealt with and done manually. I know I wouldn't do it if I was still staff.

 

Suggested this 5 million times, and it was constantly shot down by staff telling me "No because we said so", and other users saying "Yeah staff said no shut up it sucks anyways".

So with that being said, I hope that the staff will not use their own personal vendettas against you in this case, and that everyone looks clearly at the positives that a feedback system can bring.

 

Support. As long as when leaving a Vouch, it allows that person to state what the trade was etc.

I always liked iTrader because you can be notified of negative ratings and then investigate it immediately... fake negative vouch would lead to punishment of course.

But I'm sure this has been denied, but I'm just inputting that I prefer the iTrader system ... it is also easy to see in case someone decided to go on a scamming spree you just look for the red X iTrader.

 

I personally like the current system nevertheless this is still a good suggestion and would organize the vouches some more.

 

i support we need a new vouch systim in place around here like pbot.org..

 

I would support if current vouches were incorporated.
