SytheChat Look

Hey guys! I made a design of how SytheChat could look in the future.

Id like to know 2 things:
1. Matthew or Sythe, Is that possible?
2. What do you think? Would you support it? Would you use it?


Without any notification/chat:




With chats + other:



Personally, I think a lot of people would use it + it would bring some new members to the site, looking to do business.

If all this is not possible. We could add a Sythechat floating button. The button would show only when the OP checks the option when creating a thread:



When checked, the button will appear on the thread when he is online on SytheChat.

A user visiting the thread would have something like this (without the name if too complicated):


When the user clicks on the button, SytheChat pops up. However, it will be a chat with the OP and not the SytheChat home.





There is a bunch of tutorials online on how to make a floating button on vbulletin if we don't know how. The button would just have to be linked to SytheChat.

If everything I suggested cannot be done, we could have something in UserCenter where the user can get a direct link to his SytheChat. OP could copy that link and make a button himself. Users could click that link on his thread and directly message OP.

 

support something of this sort as long as it isint intrusive in the regular site

 

I second that.

 

I imagine this would take a fair bit of coding and resources. There is likely a reason why they made it as an extension/pop-up or whatever you want to call it, as opposed to being attached normally. However, if it is possible and wouldn't take months on months to use, I'd support this. Over the past couple weeks there has been an increase in activity in the sythechat, showing that there is interest in it. If it was easy to use, I don't see why more people wouldn't join

 

Grave created a better looking and fully functioning demo of this, and hosted it on his website. I'll search for the thread.

he had a version on his site where it wasn't an extention, just native to the site.

I actually really like that idea and would boost the activity of the Sythe chat by loads!

 

There is also vBulletin plugins that exists to integrate a Chat like that. A really good one is ArrowChat

If we cant figure out how to integrate SytheChat to the site... I'm sure we could succeed by modifying these plugins.

Completely support from me. It'd be better if we could just do business instantly rather than using skype.

As others have said - as long as it isn't obtrusive to those who might continue not to use SytheChat, support.

 

This implementation will be a fantastic addition to the site. A lot better than the current configuration, but again, if the workload required is too much I'd appreciate we stuck to the current structure.

 

pretty much sums up my thoughts. there may be plans to implement something similar to this, but you'd have to ask rich about that... i think it's probably below a fair few other things on the ultimate to-do list

My suggestion led to what we have now, and so I posted this:

I've brought up dozens of times a closely related idea. Sythe account-id based messaging system with permanent storage of text and images. Would be expensive as fuck though, and it's a huge investment for a maybe market.

 

Yea, I guess the first suggestion will probably get denied like yours. But what about having a direct link that links to your SytheChat so people can just contact you right away by clicking that link (just like a livechat on another window). We already have a direct link to SytheChat's homepage, it would probably be possible to have one that links directly to the user.

 

Btw i forgot to mention, full on 100% support for your OP idea. We need something like it imo
