I really don't understand why these even exist, or are even allowed. We have official bond holders that have gone through the correct channels to become said bond holders. These Unofficial Donation Services spout from the same stem as the once condoned (erroneous) investment services. I can understand the adulation that these users have for Sythe.org, but these services inevitably and always end terribly.

If any higher staff are able to explain the process behind these services being condoned, would be much appreciated.

I have to agree on that. I personally don`t think the `donate for someone else' button was made to let everybody accept donations for each other but more like in a gift way.

I asked the other staff about it before making my thread and they said it was ok as long as nothing is referred to as "Official". I can understand your concern, but it is just another service since these people are volunteering their time to perform. I would say its more on the grounds of currency conversion but take it as you will.

If any other staff have input, please feel free to share.

I really don't understand why these even exist, or are even allowed. We have official bond holders that have gone through the correct channels to become said bond holders.

They generally exist because they can provide donation methods "official bond holders" can't offer + in most cases "official bond holders" are inactive enough in processing donations, that "unofficial donors" actually have a demand for their service.

Also, from my personal experience, I've messaged Matthew on numerous occasions about becoming a bond holder and I've never once got a response in regards to it.

So maybe if these "correct channels" were easier to go through, you might see less unofficial donation services.

Care to give any examples where someone who offered unofficial Sythe donations ended up scamming said donations?

I received a pm from Matthew regarding being a Bond Holder. He stated they were not looking for more people at that time. I was kind of puzzled at the time because a few holders were MIA.

Saying unofficial donation services shouldn't be allowed to provide services is much the same as saying unofficial middlemen shouldn't be allowed to MM. Users can take their chances just as you would with any other service or good.

I started asking once Fendle got banned, as I assumed they would be looking for a replacement to take UKBT (I also offered to do RSGP if needed, due to the bond holders MIA that you mentioned).

However, like I said, I got no reply - not even one saying they weren't looking. Obviously, you and whoever else were luckier in that you actually got a response.

At the end of the day, Matthew is very hit and miss - which isn't ideal when he's the channel you have to go through when you're interested in becoming a bond holder.

you would agree wouldn't you and there are other methods of donating that you don't offer. Also atleast bring some valuable points to why you disagree with it. I know you use your bond status as a source of making money so obviously wouldn't want other people to also donate for people but you should have valid points.

Exactly you have ukbt and he doesn't, I do too and money bookers isn't a option he offers either.

edit- Matthew also told me he wasn't looking for anymore so yeah

I agree with this statement Roary! No one is forcing anyone to use these services. Its just there should someone need it. Like I said above, I still feel like its a currency exchange and is a valid trading method. I know I have accepted doing skilling trades for donations in my name in the past so why would this be any different?

As Roary mentioned, what's the problem with it? Having unofficial donators keeps rates reasonable all while providing a service to both Sythe and the community for fast & reliable donation services. As with any other trade in the market there is some risk but a middleman can be used if there is any doubt.

The only people I could see having a problem with is the select few "official" bond holders.

As I said the Donate for someone else button isn't made to provide a donation service. It's just a nice option to donate for friends.

Also if everybody starts an unofficial donation service there is also a bigger chargeback risk on Sythe's side which may result in problems with PayPal.

Also as I said before I would really like to know what Matthew thinks about this. Is any admin willing to point him at this thread?

I see the issue of chargebacks being a problem and ruining it for everyone else. There is a difference in MMing a trade and accepting donations to send into sythe. Scamming someone when MMing won't effect any of the outside parties but charging back the Sythe PP account can screw donations up for everyone as I already stated.

So apparently my input has been requested.

I don't have an issue with these unofficial services. We try to accept as many donation methods as we can, whether directly or through bond holders, but can't accept everything. So, I don't see the issue with people accepting donations unofficially for other users.

If you oppose this, I also understand. There is potential for scamming and charge backs. My argument, however, is that it's the user's problem, not ours. You have the right to use unofficial services but also have the right not to. If you choose to use unofficial services whether for middlemanning, donations, or whatever else, you do so at your own risk and we do not imply trust or backing for unofficial services.

I would also like to point out that if scamming occurs related to these types of donations then the scammed user should of course file a scammer report.

I don't see a problem. These are like unofficial MM's..

I don't really see an issue ether. If someone is scammed by an unofficial bond holder that's their issue to be honest. But the more donations processed only benefits the site so I don't understand what the fuss is about.

i wouldn't see this as a problem, i see it more as in Middleman and Official Middleman (OMM)

Except MM's don't donate on behalf of other users that could lead to chargebacks and impact Sythe.ai.

you got a point there, personally i think it's a matter of trust. if a newcomer wants to be donator bond, 99% he wouldn't get any trades for that.

the example on the top are totally fine in my opinion, we should apriciate for what they are doing for Sythe.
