Requiring in game name in PMs

Please require scam proof to include in game char names. This will avoid the skype hacks as no one will pm a name that they aren't using to trade. Your in game names will be revealed anyways, this just reduces the risk of imposter scamming. Will also reduce the risk of a midtrade skype hack

 

I don't quite understand what you mean. Please will you explain a little more?

 

I think the point is that all people sending confirmation pms should be required to include the name of their in-game rs accounts in that pm. So like,

[start of pm]
my skype - live:supersythe
my ign - superfluous123
our skype convo: [here]
[end of pm]

I thought that all reasonable traders did this anyway; they should at least...

 

If all trades did this, then no imposter scams would take place. If it's clear what char to trade in the first line, then no one will fall for the imposter PM's. It's usually someone trying to replicate the convo with the victim. Most of the time the chat logs are fairly consistent..this will also avoid people making their own imposters -

 

People should just read the damn pm's people send as confirmation.

Even today i saw a scam report that someone sent with there ingame name and STILL the person traded a different character.

The forum can make A LOT of rules to TRY and make things safer but its up to the individual user to actually follow those safety precautions.

It's even in RED but he still managed to trade a different RSN.

 

No support, I dont want to see scam reports saying : "oh, well he didnt say his RSN in PM so he needs to repay even if it was imposter or whatever. Not my fault!"

I strongly advice people to say your RSN in PMs tho. Respect your customers and make sure they are trading you.

No support. It would complicate an easy procedure. What happens if x didn't say their ig name in the pm and the sender got the recipient wrong? Does the intended recipient get off scot clean? I don't think it should be mandatory within the pm, but it should be encouraged.

 

If folk send a PM and the conversation/Skype matches and the RSN is said in the Skype, then it's easy enough to connect the dots, no?

 

can't you use 2 bonds to switch name so it doesn't show up? switch names twice. plus anyone can make an alt

 

He's talking about trading GP to a name etc, not name trading itself

 

I remove my RSN from skype chat logs when I trade with a lot of people because I prefer the privacy of trades not being able to be tracked back to my RSN in the future. I sure as hell won't put it in my PM's.

 

We've added this for OMMs, but I think this is a bit too much for regular traders. We're having trouble getting people to PM (and read) copy-pasted skype conversations themselves as it is.
