[Tutorial] Make an Animated GIF [Photoshop][GIMP]

Alright, So to start with. The tutorial is for Photoshop Obviously. Afterwards i'll explain where you go for GIMP as some people can't afford Photoshop.

Photoshop
I'm going to be using a simple text GIF just cuz it's a tutorial .

To begin with, obviously make a new document with any dimension you want.

I'm using a 200x200px Black image.

Now make your layers of whatever have you.

I did 4 Layers, " 1 2 3 4 "




After you have your layers separated how you want them.

Go to Window>Animation
On the first frame, turn off visibility for all layers but the first one.
Then add one frame at a time, and turn on the layers you want visible for each step in the animation.

Changing layer visibility one frame at a time is a classic Photoshop animation technique that covers a wide variety of needs.



This is what it should look like after you have done your frames. There! you are done with your .GIF File, all you need to do now is save it as a .GIF

But before you save it completely. Make sure the timeing for each is correct, you can change the time it takes for 1 frame to play by clicking on the default "0 sec." under the frame.

To save it, go to File > Save for web & Devices...







GIMP
For gimp you do pretty much the same thing, but instead of windows > animation you go to Filter > Animation > Play Back and play with your layers until you have it in the correct rows.

Then save it as a .gif and make sure to check Animation!
