Training with 1 attack and 1 str

Working on a defense pure build and just trying to figure out how to max my xp/hour.

Right now monks are the best option because it's 100% afk, but does anyone have tips on how to gain max xp per hour? Should I be killing monks, but with pots? or should I be killing another NPC with pots?

Any input is greatly appreciated

 

I suggest you, go to chickens till you get 5 range.
After getting 5, go to lummy and kill the cows while you are over the fence, you dont need food since they cant attack.

 

Nowhere in the OP did I say I needed to know how to train, i'm more or less trying to figure out where I need to be training defense, as well as any questing that HAS to be done and anything I need to do to prevent me "Ruining" the account

It depends are you going to be pking f2p or p2p? also why choose a range tank?

and why are you buying str/atk pots are you not going to use long range to train defence?

 

I suppose you could train where a normal 1 def pure trains? Like rock crabs or something.

As for the quest part, quests on a Zerker are important because you need to get turmoil, berserker helm etc. and stay maximum 45 defence. With a ranged tank unless you need a certain prayer or a special weapon that has loads of requirements you can just train as normal. Just make sure you know the quest rewards before you start a quest and you should be ok.

 

Hmm...are there any quests that I would want to do that are going to benefit my account, without having to gain any xp in attack/str? I'm thinking about keeping 1 magic as well to keep things really unique. Just to be the oddball

I don't think using long range would be as efficient as using a melee weapon to train defense with potions. I think I would end up getting less xp an hour using long range.

 

You could get the best gloves you can from doing Recipe for Disaster as an extra for your account. I suppose any quest that gives you Defence XP only or Ranged XP only.

 

Why on earth are you staying 1 attack/strength? A good range tank just ensures that they're below 148 attack+strength total as at 99 range they'll still be range based.

Anyways, if you've got prayer, the best way to train defence is chinning either in NMZ or on ape atoll.

Gonna take awhile since strength level is so low. I'd do quests as much as possible. You can google that and just edit the quests to show the ones that gain you defence XP.

I absolutely guarantee you will get more defense xp with 40+ range and long range than with 1/1 using defensive...especially if you took the money you would buy in potions and buy ranging potions.. train wherever you normally would

 

After thinking about it, i'm going to stay a defense pure/skiller for now, then afterwards i'll think about changing.

Monks are a good place to train at a lower level, and you can use pots if you can afford it to get the extra power boost. If you have a high Defense this might not really affect you but you can talk to the monks and get healed by them. Not sure if this works though in 07 but you can try it.

 

That is where i'v been training at from the start, i'm just not sure if there is a better place.

Monks (I feel) are the afk option so you sacrafice xp for the ability to afk for long, long, long periods of time.

whereas, another NPC may be better for me to train on, but i'll not be able to afk, and i'm 100% fine with that, I just want to be able to get max xp an hour when i'm actually wanting to play vs wanting to afk

 

There are Experiment's but I've never been there myself. A lot of pures choose to go there but I'm not sure if you need 43 prayer to protect melee.

 

I won't be able to get there because they haven't added the skiller option to get to canifis yet

Rock crabs? If so, they are a very good place to train but it's usually very busy there. Have you tried in the Stronghold of Security? I don't think you can AFK there but there are different monsters to train on there.

 

I'd strongly suggest you train on long range dude!
