A new scam to look out for.

Somebody tried to scam me for my D Claws today. I'm guessing it's a new scam because quite a few people have been trying to use this on me.

I'm sorry if it's not new and everybody knows it!

It's definitely one of the better scams I've seen. Near the Milk Seller in Lumbridge is a patch of land which you can't stand on, if you try to walk on it, you'll walk right back to the spot you were before. Now if you turn off run and press new note in your notes interface when you land on the land, you'll stand there.

Now, the scammer who told you to do this will tell you that if you drop an item there (possibly worth over a certain amount of gp) and pick it back up, it will dupe. Well, if you try to pick it up after dropping it you wont be able to. Unless you telegrab it.

You'll panic because you can't pick it up. The item will appear and the scammer will telegrab it.

Pretty clever scam. I almost fell for it! I hope nobody gets scammed like this and please feel free to troll the scammers.

 

Seriously why do people fall for these. Why would Jagex program a certain spot of land that will "dupe" items. If this works why isn't the scammer abusing the shit out of this.

People who fall for this deserve to get tricked

 

Thanks for the warning, but anyone who seriously falls for a "Drop your item on the floor" deserves to be scammed.

 

These scammers target little children and noobs. I guess youd have to be one of either those to fall for such a scam.

Pretty sneaky, Jagex should fix this though.

 

You would have to be a twat to actually fall for this sorry, but yeah Jagex does have quite a young fan base on Runescape, I can see why people abuse it, it's like this doubling money bullshit, why would you even double someones money? it's rediculous I see people saying, "doubling money 900m left quitting" No you're not quitting or you would just log out, you don't gain anything from doubling anyones cash.. Idiots deserve to get scammed sometimes.

Sometimes there are actually legit money doublers lol, it's pretty cool

I once met a legit money doubler... ran away after he doubled my 5k as proof made 5k profit for free xD

Do this show them 1m and say prove you can double 100k they give 200k run away LOL. It works if you show them the 1m they think they are going to get it lol.

you deserved everything that happened plus more. A website such as jagex having a duping bug. Might aswell play private servers.

Well this scam does sound pretty smart, I mean, if you were talking someone into doing this you could always gives them the "reassurance" that they can just pick the item back up, idk, doesn't sound that "stupid" or "impossible to fall for" in my opinion XD It's not like it's in the wilderness or a clan war lure anyway...
