To much Control by the government?

I have recently noticed that the government is taking more and more control over the United States The government is running the parents children's lives. A child should have the choice to drink a soda if they want. The rights are on the edge of being denied. If you agree or disagree then post why.

I really don't think it's that big of a deal. It's not like they are saying people can't drink soft drinks. An effort to improve our health is among the better things the government has done as of late.

Do I seem to be the only one not affected by this? There are about 6 vending machines at my school full of commercial soft drinks such as Pepsi, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, etc.

On a serious note, you don't really have your rights at school, and thats the way it should be really.

Yeah, it was constitution day a few days ago, all the Teacher's disussed the constitution and they basically said students have pretty much no rights at school.....it was interesting lol seeing as i'm Canadian and moved to the U.S like 4 months ago

THe governement Is over stepping boundaries and in school you have no rights at all, They can search you... They can search your bag locker anything... They will say they were conserned for your welfare and were acting s a parent or gaurdian by doing so, SOda.. is the least of our problems.... Being fat is a blessing most people look at that as attractive shows you have money to eat in other countries. I can list many of times the government over steps there boundaries but sometimes it is for the best.

Its very stupid how the government is gaining more control, and right under our noses. Because of Bush's war on terrorism, you can now thrown in jail without being told why, have your phone records seized, be tortured and much more if he thinks you are a "terrorist". If you've ever read 1984, you can see striking similarities between Oceana and the US. As far as soda, ours aren't taken out, and won't be until I graduate. We have few years left on our contract with Coke, and the government can't break the contract.

Yeah, after 9/11 they have so much control over us now. They don't even need a warrant anymore.

This may be going a little off topic. But i want to get this point across.

About the Vending Machiene issue-

As stated above in someone elses reply, the population of obese People Is getting too high. It's not healthy, and it has to be stoped. Yes a human being has the right to make thier own decisions in life, but not before they are able to make the right one. A child cannot be sentenced to jail becuase it is said they are not old enough to make the right decision, so why shouldn't the government be able to stop them from becoming fat?
On the other hand, taking away vending machienes from schools isn't going to make that much of a difference. If they really wanted to get junk food, they could get it from many other places, and for cheaper aswell. So i don't think that the government should have even bothered.

So true, many people dont know, but at many times when america is at war, people who are aganist the war become UnAmerican and are harressed and thrown in jail... For example many Japanese Americans were put into camps during WWII, ALso may people who protested or even disagreed with the war could be put in jail or fined big time... We got it very easy.
