I would if i knew for sure what he was going to do.

 

We need something to kill us... but genocides haven't killed that many people... so, we don't need them. Also, you probably haven't done much schooling but goverments can also control the population if they pleased. Restricting families to only one child or they'll get heavily taxed e.g. China but that will backlash them in the future, it'll slow down progress and they will need to bring in people from other countries to sustain the elderly but they do need it because their population density is way to high imo.

Kill? Doubtfully. I'd try to prevent the holocaust from happening without killing him. At the moment, he's an innocent baby. What happened to him during his life led to him leading the Nazi uprising.

I wouldn't kill him, as nobody at that stage would know whether he was going to be good or bad then, when he is a baby, it would be unfair to judge him.

 

Almost every technological advancement has been coupled with the loss of thousands, and sometimes millions. If we cast away every bit of our technology because it coincided with death, we'd still be living in caves.

 

I'm sure in the future, there would have been the same technology advances. They were just the first.

 

But can you honestly say you know for a fact that said advances would be discovered? Or that they wouldn't be just as violent? What about; if someone DID pioneer genetic science sometime in the future, how much longer would it then take for the genome to be mapped? The same people who already did it might not be around, so would there still be a group who'd be able to accomplish it? And what if that got delayed as well? It's ridiculous for anyone to answer "yes" to whether they'd kill Hitler as a child because no one knows what could happen.

Nothing is for sure, but do not give the man so much credit for every advancement that came from the their uprising. I realize i'm knocking Hitler down because of the holocaust, but even with the advancements he helped discover, what were the costs of them...

 

It's a valid point, and the costs was roughly 11 million lives. But then again, the cost of nuclear power cost about 246,000 on the bombing of Japan alone. The technological advancements from the bronze age accounts for billions, maybe even trillions of deaths because of the discovered ability to force and cast weapons.

The holocaust was tragic, but Hitler was also a genius this world couldn't afford to lose.

On the brighter side, these advancements also save lives. The genome project allows us to identify and, if possible, cure genetic diseases. Nuclear power allows us to power homes and businesses, and metal working has an immense impact on day to day life.

You're right when you say the cost was great, but the scientific knowledge is also invaluable :>
