To all atheists

I agree, no one should force their beliefs on others. People should have the freedom to believe whatever they want. However, beliefs inform actions and if one's actions infringe on the rights of another, then we have a problem.

 

Do your research on your claim. Look up agnostics and stop being a tool it's people like you that go around throwing out claims and have absolutely no idea what your talking about.
At birth most of the time we are brainwashed by our parents and their beliefs and the people around you,you barely or never get the chance to think about anything else.

Agnostics- Say we Just simply don't know
gnostics - Say we DO know.

So you are not agnostic if you say you KNOW for sure there is no god.

 

To Even be considered a possible winner in any public poll you CAN NOT be an atheist. By saying that you basically set yourself up and your team for utter failure which is a shame. Now I'm not saying they all believed but you have to lie to even get considered people simply will not allow a non believer of a god to run the states.

 

As an Atheist I am fine with religion and whatever people believe in, even though i believe it is stupid.

The reason Atheists are vocal is being Christians and other religions can keep religion to themselves. They are not satisfied until everyone believes what we believe. They want public schools to teach creationism, they make sex ed. nothing but the words "save it until marriage", I could go on and on but my point is that the religious are the one's not keeping it to themselves and they just get mad when someone stands up to them.

 

They believe their way is the right way and no other way is to be considered.

Agnostics don't claim absolute certainty, gnostics do.

I am an agnostic and an atheist because a) I don't believe gods exist and b) I do not claim absolute certainty regarding my position.

And yes, everyone is born an atheist since, at birth, we are unable to even conceive of the idea of a god and therefore do not believe in one. How can you believe in something you can't even conceive of?

 

Thanks for your respect . We don't have anything to lose, but we have nothing to gain. I always was sketchy about the idea of God, but when I studied world religions in AP World History and looked at it strictly from a scholarly viewpoint, it's no more logical than believing in Polythiestic religions like the ancient Greeks. In my opinion Zeus is no more real than God. Religion isn't stupid, but governments mainly United States in modern times, in the past the Church has always used it's power to keep government in power, hundreds of years ago a prime example of religion having no help for people was how the Aryans reinstituded Hinduism into India so that they could revive the caste system to seperate themselves from the natives and put themselves in a religiously supported place of power.

Not to mention how the christain faith teaches that you will be judged by God when you die. So when that happens I could simply admit I was wrong, confess all my sins, and go to Heaven anyway; as although I don't believe i'm still a person of good heart and I follow many principles and morales taught in the bible.

who the hell said i said religion is knowledge? I said agnostics simply believe it is beyond human knowledge to know 100% if a deity exists or not. BEFORE YOU POST.

I don't bother people about their religion, I just question how can you think X, Y, and Z with no proof. It just flabbergasts me.

I was raised Catholic, but when I finally given a choice at my confirmation, I announced I was an atheist.

Very Well Put.. I hate Atheists that try to convince me to stop following my religion. Its annoying as hell and it pisses me off.

 

What about the Theists that try to talk us into religion? It's the SAME thing, yet since it is "saving" us it becomes right?

 

This post itself is insulting to any one of any religion. Your assuming religion is merely a "comfort" for what's after life; it's not. I believe that there is heaven and hell. Second problem with this post is as a Christian, it is not always comforting. If your leading a sinful life, you know in your heart where you are ultimately going.

However, I know your intension are not to offend anyone. Just a lil' heads up.

As long as religious people don't make themselves superior when they're talking to me, I don't have a problem with it. But when a christian/muslim tries talking shit to me calling me an "idiot" and such when I tell them I don't believe in any religion, that's when I rip them apart, then they feel stupid/mad.

See, you explained how I feel. I don't mind people believing, I won't try to convince them out of their religion, but if they won't accept that atheists are just as, if not more, intelligent than theists, I have to say something.

Usually the answers I get when I start asking questions are 'He just does.'

 

Why is it that as an atheist I'm not allowed to argue my point, but a religious person is allowed to argue their point? Irony is ironic.

I don't go around shouting that God(s) don't exist, but if someone is going to try and shove religion down my throat they better expect to receive some backlash.
