Time Travel, is it possible?

It got me thinking a lot.
If we can ever travel faster than the speed of light, we can time travel!

 

NOTHING is impossible if you set your mind to it

 

only catch is, You cant travel backwards in time

 

Nah, you just put your car/ space ship w/e in reverse :O?

It makes sense to me that it could be possible to go back in time...
Just think of this 3-dimensional space we live in. Is it possible to "teleport" objects? And I don't mean molecular reconstruction... you might as well move it manually in that case. I mean actually changing the position of the item and nothing else. I think it's possible... although I have no clue how that'd work of course, you'd have to bend space of something.
And if that were possible, I see no reason why it couldn't transfer to other dimensions (include the 4th, time). In fact, it'd probably be hard to perform such a task in a single dimension alone. But anyhow... I'm not so sure it's naturally possible to do such things as teleporting. But whatever.

 

Can't you travel "forward" in time if you go to speed of light, and the come back to earth your body will be older than everyone else? Something like that? >_<

 

Why would u want to Speed time though. i think it may be possible to go forward but never Backwords.

 

even if we could it should not be done, messing with the pass changes the future, and if one person does something in the past such as helps Hitler or something, or change the course of a war, all of it would turn this world into a hell, little good can come out of it when allot of bad things may happen.

 

From the video, time travel is not possible because of the way the proton thing moves.
It display the time it takes to click, even if you are going backwards, you would still be going forward in time.

 

If you go faster than the speed of light there, and then you go faster than the speed of light back, you would still lose time, but it would be that much time.

 

Like AwT's quote, I say that "time" is a measurement made up by humans just like meters and grams. In the clip, Einstein's twin brother doesn't travel in time, his bodily functions are just slowed down so it seems to him like time is going faster even though it's just him slowing down. This is basically the same as saying cryogenic freezing is time travel.

And even though this can be considered as "time travel", it will still be impossible to travel backwards.


On a side note I hope they don't get the technology to travel faster than light anytime soon, as I think it would be extremely dangerous to do. When a plane exceeds mach 1 (speed of sound) it creates a shockwave of sound behind it (the loud bang you hear on the ground). Now imagine something passes Earth creating the same kind of shockwave, but with light, it could possibly scorch the Earth.

And the scary thing is you wouldn't even see it coming.

Well, thought we can't travel backwards in time, as we approach/go faster than the speed of light, time will slow down. So if you left earth and were zooming around at 1079252848.8 km/h for 50 years, and you can back, you would have only aged about 20 years.

 

It is possible to travel into the future. If you really want I can write out the theory, but pretty much we travel off at the speed of light, and to us, say, 2 years go by, while to earth 2000 years go by. Etc.

 

would be the hell if it works, coz of nazis and other terrorists .

 

Given that the technology is not advance enough, it is still a theory.
I don't think that the terrorist would be able to time travel with the lack of knowledge of it back then.

String theory says possible, not for humans, but possible.

Einstein already said that nothing moving slower than the speed of light can accelerate to faster. That video also isn't based on too much fact because it's anyones guess to what will happen at the speed of light.
