I've been very bearish of the markets in the last 6 months. Empirical data seen from the Federal Reserve's own FRED site show that although not officially declared a recession, we've been dipping into one since the fall of last year, starting with the Chinese stock market fiasco (just the tip of a very VERY large iceberg).

The only reason why it hasn't been officially declared is due to the fact there needs to be 2 consecutive quarters of declines. But all the signs are present.

I expect gold and silver to do particularly well and my reasoning behind that goes quite beyond the average "gold bug" description. To offer some surface insight, it has to do with multiple large financial institutions (barclays, deustche bank, and others) colluding in the London Gold fix which determines the gold ETF market prices and the fact that there are approximately 500 claims per gold ETF oz. It doesn't seem economically sound to have 499 other folks have legal claim to my paper gold oz. COMEX inventories haven't been lower in recorded history, so delivery on already existing contracts as is would be strained. Along with this information, there is the newly created Shanghai Gold Exchange which is settling trades at a 1:1 ratio with their physical asset reserves and China has stealthily been acquiring almost the entire world export gold supply since the 2008 financial crisis while retaining all of their internal gold supply which is the largest in the world. Recently last year, after the reveal of the gold fix collusion, Shanghai has been more than willing to try and assert itself as the premier price mechanism for the gold market.

    Just my 3 cents.
