    Thoughts on PETA?

    General thoughts on the organization?

I know a lot of people detest the overzealous nature in how they go about protesting various subject matters. I don't see how that is necessarily a bad thing given their objective.

    Thoughts on PETA?

My only gripe is how they come off as raving fanatics. The bigger picture is what actually counts and what I think they do a good job of bringing to light. I doubt the general public has seen some of the things they've exposed (fur market for example, that's something I was actually beyond shocked about when I actually saw videos of of animals being skinned alive and just tossed in a pile).

However, there have been times where I just shake my head. I've seen a few times where they bring up the topic of horses and how they're "mistreated" in law enforcement or in general how supposedly riding horseback is a bad thing in general... that to me is just a "what the fuck are you talking about" moment.

They're raving fanatics some of them, but the bigger picture and principle they represent is what matters and they do a good job of that.

Well I'm sure a lot of the hate comes towards the fact that they euthanize some of the animals they contain.

There's obviously both positives and negatives to either side of the argument. PETA does bring light to animal cruelty, but they're too extremist for my taste. I prefer to remain more moderate on many issues, like animal cruelty. I do think the skinning of animals while they're alive is awful, however I also feel that I'd prefer any product that needs testing to be tested on an animal as opposed to a human. There's always a give and take. ;)

I personally feel like the animal shelter commercial brings enough attention to animal abuse and overpopulation. It's really bad when you feel more sorry for those animals than the starving children in the other commercial.
