Thoughts on current state of things?

Well thank you for saying that you made a mistake, since no one has done that in months. But people have been SCREAMING at you guys telling you that you are doing it wrong. If the staff had listened to ANYTHING that has been told to them over the last few months it would have been super clear that this was a terrible idea.

 

1 - have to start somewhere. hopefully this thread helps people start moving in the right direction again
2 - if you're talking about mod apps in general, i dont think it was and has been an inherently bad idea. i do think we need to get a better sense of what we're looking for in applications, which takes time and apparently trial and error. i think it's hard to overlook people's opinions on this stuff now that they're out in the air, so here's hoping that this won't happen to this extent again

 

You also have to gain back trust since you denied a lot of people by telling them they were not active enough.

 

Fair but they have effectively been filtering literally everything. The staff has really become a very narrowly focused group with a huge amount of group think. There needs to a wider set of views and ideas carried by people who are actually effective in altering the group as a whole.

 

I'm speaking just about how the site is run and I can not think of anything that has been implemented in that space. Fine is not good and there is plenty that could be improved but there hasn't been real movement in that direction. Look at DNT. We were told a new pardon system would come out... Never did... What ever happened to handing out temp bans and DNTs? Doesn't seem to be happened. I've asked about the process for getting a DNT a bunch of times... Still haven't been gotten back to. What about updating the rules to better reflect the new nature of DNT and what it brings to the table? Hasn't been done. There is plenty that a staff team that had a wider set of skills, ideas and views would be able to accomplish and not working towards that is just dumb.

 

Lately I feel like Sythe is becoming an ocean with the amount of salt going around. No complaints from my end.

 

There comes a time where they don't need our help anymore for whatever reason lol. I just wanted to maybe help out again and I had a pretty damn good run doing it (except the little petty situation at the end) but I enjoyed giving back to the community that literally helped pay for my first two years of college and plus more. But oh well lol. I don't believe in making a public display of things like in the past -- better to just move on my friend.

 

I think there is a lack of patience from the community which doesn't help. I do think that staff should balance their focus on the dispute side of things with actually improving the quality of the sections they moderate in. As a moderator, you should be leading when it comes to improving the content in different sections and try to enhance activity by coming up with new ideas.

People complain about the mistakes that are made but without them there wouldn't really be a learning platform for staff and the community to seek ways in reducing problems and improving the website as a whole.

 

I like how it is. Active members getting promoted and recognized. New sections popping up. Please stop complaining unless it's constructive. I want Sythe to continue investing his time into this site, can't imagine he's too motivated when everyone complains. I want more sections to be added, more members to show up, more conversations to begin, more market activity, etc.
