Thoughts on Coronavirus?

I really wish people weren't stocking up on foods/supplies. It only increases the panic and perpetuates the problem.

 

Most of these replies are mass media inherited. Coronavirus is a step above flu because its not apparent or tested like the flu, the virus is being quarantined because its uncontrollable at the moment. There are a few thousand deaths and we only just discovered it this year. The flu kills more but its also globally attributed to our ecosystems. However, the coronavirus only kills crippled immune systems, respiratory cases, and older people in general. Should we worry about it? Yes, for the time being. Should we be stocking houses? No, lol. I personally think once the CDC has had half a year of treatment and expertise on this specific virus, we might have a bit more control over a ghost virus that appeared from a foreign land in the eastern hemisphere. Italy shows how detrimental the disease can be with such close ties to Japan. I think its kind of fucked up, but I don't think its as big of a deal its being made to be in non-European countries. If it gets bad, we will know about it soon though, hope that answers your question.

 

I don't think the Coronavirus's danger is being inflated so to speak (It has been confirmed that it can cause a permanent 20-30% decrease in lung capacity for even otherwise healthy individuals who recover from it), but I do think the mass panic buying is stupid. Toilet paper of all things? Really? Hand sanitizer and face masks I get (although they won't really help much against the virus), but save some toilet paper for me

 

Personally it's just annoying and disrespectful.

This isn't a joke, it's not overhyped, its not something to take lightly and its definitely going to be around in your lives affecting you for months to come.

Stock up, focus on your elderly by avoiding them until its over if you are silly enough to go outside and play.

Just my 2 cents.

Last year actually.

Alot of the people in the intensive care in The Netherlands (more than half) are below 50 actually. Wouldn't call those elderly people just yet. But yes, you're right on the virus being more fatal for them.

 

At this point it isnt so much of worrying about the virus. It is worrying about the mass hysteria.

 

The fact people worry about toilet paper and the others basing the risk of the virus on the people buying toilet paper...

Just because the herd buys toilet paper doesn't downplay the seriousness of the virus it just shows humans would rather wipe their ass than eat.

I am currently in isolation for 7 days so providing i dont start feeling bad, or have breathing difficulties ill be happy to play rs for the next week

 

idk everybody around where im from is taking it with a grain of salt and not giving any fucks still going outside like its a normal day

 

We're going to see a lot of fake news / misinformation floating round with this now. There's already conspiracy theories going out about China manufacturing the virus so it can weaken the world and some other conspiracy about rejecting any vaccine made for this as the New World Order are going to be able to control our bodies if we have the vaccine, complete nutjobs.

 

I think its over hyped. It's like a flue.

 

You keep telling that to yourself, until you actually take note of all the deaths or when you catch the virus yourself.

 

I think that it may be over blasted and causing panic on the medias, but I don't think it's a joke. I do think it is very serious, so I agree with @Wortel 100%.

:/ Im sorry to hear that! What I have been trying to tell a lot of people is to just stay positive and look for alternatives if at all possible.

 

@Viral_ I have to wait until tomorrow to decide what I'm doing.
My company was talking about a way to pay the guys who have been working our 40 hr/week for a few weeks if possible.

There's been guys on layoff cause of the winter, they remain on layoff and collect unemployment.

It's stressful.
