Is it possible to downgrade to Windows 7 from 8.1? I'm really interested in doing this, I miss Windows 7
Possible, but why would you? You aren't forced to use the Metro UI and everything else is basically identical in terms of user experience.
Just do what I do. Make the computer boot directly to the desktop. Use some programs to make it look similar. Then you'll have a more modern faster windows 7 with longer support. If you really want to back up all your data (DON'T use one of those programs, just drag and drop the important files to an external hard drive). I suggest putting really important files on a usb drive or something as well just to be totally sure. Then you'll need a blank disc or a usb drive, and a windows 7 iso downloaded from online. You'll burn the iso to the disc or use a program to make a bootable iso on the usb drive using the file. Turn off your computer, turn it on and quickly spam the number keys that let you boot into the BIOS. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the page where it lets you either change the boot order, or force boot a device. Then make sure you're set to boot from the usb or disc. Once you do that you'll be guided through an installation, where there are options to format the hard disc. Do it, and let windows 7 install. Make sure you run all the windows updates or you'll be missing drivers. Move all your files back over. Done. Crack if you don't have a key.
That's what I did. I can't stand windows 8. With windows 8 there was no start bar, unless you download a third party tool, and the one I had was glitchy. I could never find my computer or windows explorer. Had to search to find anything. The way I see it, windows makes a crummy os every so often. There's nothing my windows 7 computer can't do that windows 8 can except confuse me and complicate things. Warez aren't allowed on sythe.org
Just stick to Windows 8. You're only delaying the inevitable fact that you'll have to get used to its bullshit eventually. Microsoft won't be abandoning it. Plus, if you downgrade and you have a newer machine (especially one that ships with Windows 8 and offered no downgrade option upon purchase) then you'll encounter a whole host of driver issues.
It's possible to downgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7. Go to your manufacturer's brand support page and key in your model number of your Desktop or Laptop that you want to use Windows 7. There should be a list of drivers for you to download if available.
if you just miss windows 7 for the start menu, then a quick google search woulda fixed this problem for you in a hurry. Use Classic shell, it works better and is more stable than all other 3rd party programs for start menu. been using it since release. After installing, then you can quit whining and enjoy your windows 8.1. It's superior to windows 7 in every way once you have the classic shell installed.
You could always call the toll free windows number and talk to them about it, they hand out keys all the time for me.
