    Yes, it will do. Supports 2nd generation i5 processors and has a PCI-e port.

    If it has a PCI-E x16 slot, it'll support PCI-E gpus,
    the i5 2500k is socket 1155, so you'll want a socket 1155 P67 or Z68(so you can OC) :)
    if you don't know what OCing is, and don't bother wanting to learn, just grab a H61, or H67 1155 mobo & a 2500!

    It is compatible..

    But because of the location of the slot and depending on the size of the card, I feel like it might interfere with the RAM slot. Not positive though.

    Even if he has no interest in OCing, the Z68 chipset is still preferable since it has certain technologies that the older chipsets don't (SRT for example)

    It won't.

    Size of the card doesn't really matter, unless the heatsink on the GPU was pointing towards your CPU you've got nothing to worry about.



    Face it, if he doesn't wanna OC I doubt he'd use that stuff either aha.
