how many times you see a post that u have nothing to do with but is funny/autistic as shit and you wanna acknowledge it somehow but if u quote and post on the thread that's sorta like too much acknowledgement and u dont wanna seem too interested cuz u gotta keep ur street rep up. the like button fixes that and that is why i think that the like button should be appreciated more.
