The new phone verifcation password thing

This thing is glitchy as hell and annoying. It told me after doing the phone confirmation i entered the wrong PW after being annoyingly called 3 times, i have no clue how im even logged in right now as i have a page open with this BS


Im all for being secure and verifying the account ect, but if i need to get a phone call or a text every time i log i wont want to be logging in anywhere near as much. PLEASE dont make this an everytime you log in deal, im not even entirely comfortable for having to give my personal phone number anyways. Either way, it took me ages to log in with the current system and kept saying i got my password wrong after receiving the phone call/text so its experiencing some sort of bug

Just another reason as to why people are deterred from using Sythe.

 

I don't really like giving out personal details, then again i don't know how i came here without inputting that.. i got the screen and i opened a new sythe screen and it went away.

Support removal if it's actually acting as a deterrent. If people are here to scam, entering a phone number isn't going to stop them. It's also not hard to get throw away numbers.

 

So what would this security actually do, make you input your number every-time you login seems like a normal security measure, which is used by thousands of big companies, i support this staying, as the Scammers might not want to put their number in, whereas the legit ones do without a problem

 

If i might bring out my idea Richard, make something like this :
- When you try to log in to the site, lets say on my account right?
It will say something like.. An email has been sent to the address linked with this Account, and then i would have to log into the email and authorize it so i can log from this PC, might be better than this.

 

It's actually easier to hack a email account because people can guess the security questions ect. So that could be a problem as I assume a lot of people use the same email for msn as the one that's linked to their account.

 

Is there also an option for members to choose for this security option them selfs? I'm really committed to keep my Sythe account safe because it's a part of my business.

Sorry but not currently. This service must be paid for and is limited to the number of accounts permitted. It would be too costly at this point to open it up for everyone. Sythe's been looking into alternatives, however.

 

Agreed. Maybe add the opportunity to buy verification sms. Can by add up automatically after payment was successful, easy to build, doesn't need any time to be managed this way.

Maybe have an opt-in version where you can upload funds. I'd be down if it means my account won't get hacked and I'm sure many other big traders would definitely take it over being hacked and being liable for thousands lost. If I'm not mistaken each call/sms should be about 20 cents.

For the alternative it'd be cool to have something like JAG. Use a trusted computer, if IP changes, annoy the fuck out the person with a bunch of security questions.

 

From what I remember it's like $3/per account per month. The first 10 are free.

 

I'm all for 2-step verification - I have it enabled everywhere I can. Perhaps an opt-in idea is best if we plan to make duo available to everyone eventually.

 

Thanks for the reply, it didnt do it to me today thank god. The phonecall AND text just seemed really invasive for a casual sythe user who is hardly active in market ect.

 

It wouldn't have been both, would have been one or the other, or thirdly, it would push an approval request to your cell via an app.

 

Couldn't we make something for IOS and Android like an application which is like a dollar, for added security? Just like Blizzard has, it could benefit the security breaches immensely, but we need a programmer for these respective Operating systems to come forward

 

I'm no expert in the field by any means but I have my doubts that it's just that simple. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.
