The GFX Rank

out of curiosity, can a sythe member get the GFX rank just because they can make signatures, thread layouts, User images, and avatars? if so, then what has the user exactly demonstrated exactly in order to show their designing abilities? because really, if this is what the value of the Graphics Rank is, then I see the rank as something very cheap and easy to obtain.

If you have contributed to designing for Sythe, basic titles and text and also get the rank, doesn't that make the GFX rank cheap and easy to obtain as well?

I'm a university student in Graphics working on industry standard projects now, started since September 2016. So my expectations have risen allot since.

I understand how Moonglare got the GFX rank ages ago, because he actually deserved it and I know what he contributed.

But there are other ranked members here who primarily got ranked just for making the above things and have not demonstrated understanding of design and proven themselves as far as I have seen.

This is because design is far more than making text signatures, they are things that businesses and companies won't even look at. Companies want to see professional work. Clearly signatures, thread layouts, and avatars are not necessities of being a professional designer now is it? In other words, just because a sythe member has the GFX artist rank right now, it does not necessarily mean they are professional and experienced designers. "Oh I can make signatures, avatars, and threads".

Please correct me and enlighten me if I'm wrong so I can just understand more about how it works exactly.

 

Well the graphic artist rank is a fun rank so there is no requirement. Basically if @Sythe wants to give it to you for whatever reason, you get it.

 

My initial understanding, back when I first won the logo competition was that you get to make a personal custom rank and it would only be available to you. But I was wrong I guess...

 

From my understanding @MoonGlare received it for designing the sythe logo (and the sythe background if I'm not mistaken), and he was allow to create a custom funrank, which gave birth to the Graphic Designer Funrank. After that, @Leaf of Life received it for creation a .SVG version of the sythe logo, Felix received it from work for CDT and other numerous things, and correct me if I'm wrong but @T1N0 received it due to his CDT work and the icon overhaul he just helped Sythe with.

 

The more you help with any graphics relating to Sythe.org the higher chances you have of getting the rank.
