When white people came to Africa, certain tribes teamed up with us and in exchange for us helping them defeat rival tribes they let us take them back as slaves. The white people also usually got a guide (who was black) to lead them to other tribes where they could capture slaves.

So don't even bring race into this, it won't make any sense because it would mean that your own race screwed itself over. Generalizing like that is stupid.
