But it is not likely that life out there is carbon based, and even less that they are even intelligent in the same way or scale as we. For instance, maybe the bacteria on your keyboard is completely sentient (not in our sense of the word) and is actively plotting our downfall.

I think it's virtually certain that other forms of life exist in the universe. There are some 100 billion stars in the Milky Way, and some 100 billion other galaxies out there. We are one planet, around one star.

I totally agree. It would be ignorant for us, humans, to think that there is no other form of life out there besides on are planet.

We would be 1/100000000000000000 if we where alone (That number is not accurate.)
