Terrorism - The Word

What do you consider a terrorist to be? The above quote is what a dictionary states it as. But with the current events, I dont believe that this definition is true.


Why? Because of two recent events. The first and latest, the foiled car bombings in the U.K. Before any info was known on the situation, CNN and other large news production deemed these bombers as terrorists. This was before the "terrorists" stated any reason for the bombings. The "terrorists" never said anything about their political, religious, or ideological objectives, but they were still terrorists.

My second event is the Virginia Tech shooting. This shooter clearly stated that his reason for it was to change the thinking of people so they would be better to people like him. Now isn't this the force of violence to achieve ideological beliefs?


So in your opinion, what does the word terrorist mean? Because to mean, it doesn't mean anything any more.

Do you like societies that breed/house groups that would like to, or already have, attacked the US?
Do you support countries that have WMDs (supposedly) and are known to have used them in the past on more than one occasion?

And do you really think those Iraq body counts (which are exaggerated, I bet it's no more than 150,000) are the results of the US military?
Firstly, our military action was/is weak as hell, and I don't see how they could ever be given so much credit.
Lastly, if you bother to look at actual reports, you'd see that those body counts consist, overwhelmingly, of car bombings, suicide bombings, executions, etc. that were not a result of the US occupation. To say that would be to say that such things never occurred before the US came. :/
