im not so nice with depth but i think i did pretty good on this one

im not expert but it looks pretty nice to me but also as you said your not great with depth and behind him between the wings is my main issue

 

The focal is centered which throws off the composition, and besides that there is no real room for effects because the focal takes up the entire tag. The colors need a lot of work as well as the depth. The left wing is over blurred at the top and too sharp at the bottom where as the right wing isn't blurred at all but it still too sharp at the bottom. The lighting needs work because right now it just kind of looks flat.

 

The quality of the render seems a bit out of focus/blurry to me.

 

Adding to the above posts, apply image and use the burn tool to darken the edges some. This will help with your lighting and establish an atmosphere.

Blend some black into your fire, and then brighten up just your angels wings with some glow, would make it look awesome.
