Tattoos: Art or Trash?

I do not have a tattoo and probably won't get one anytime soon, but I think some look very cool and like hearing other peoples opinions on them. Feel free to post yours or post funny ones or anything.


ALSO: Feel free to talk about piercings as well..

I personally am fine with any piercings on the ear, nose piercings and belly button piercings. (On a female) All other ones bother me a bit. I don't really have an opinion when it comes to male piercings.

 

I think tattoos can look really good on some people. I doubt I'd ever get one however as I can't really think of a design that I like so much that I'd never regret it.

Not overly a fan of piercings asides from the standard ones you mentioned however

 

i dont like piercings how ever you can remove them again but tattos you cant well only if u do like a surgery or something but i dont like any of it. the worst part is when you hear that there is people who got a piercing in there dick.

 

Tattoos can be nice but I personally won't ever get one. A lot of kids nowadays get stupid ass tattoos for the sake of having one... funny thing is they give it random significance to validate getting one.

The piercing you mentioned are the only ones I find are attractive on a female. On males, anything more than ear lobe piercing is just ehhh.

 

I wouldn't mind a tattoo. One of our ex-hosts has a Dragon Dyce tattoo

I'm old school so I still don't like tattoos or piercings. Mainly because I don't like trashy girls and they are both a sign of a trashy girl. No opinion on guys.

 

I love a well done tattoo that has meaning. It is absolutely art when done by a professional. Especially 3D tattoos. Take a look at some of these puppies:







However, I think a lot of people see tattoos the wrong way. Like them get them purely for the sake of getting them, you know? Like it makes you bad-ass for having a tattoo or something. Especially something without meaning. Like some shitty tribal tattoo you got because it looks cool, while you have no clue what it represents or even what tribe it relates to. Or like some 35-year-old overweight dude with a masculinity complex who gets barbed wire tattooed across his bicep. Fuck that.

Piercings I see the same way I guess. Some are bland, boring, and uninspired. Others, however, can be very unique and interesting. Again, it depends a lot on the person. A lot of people take it over the top, again, for the sake of going over the top. You know the whole, "Hey look how crazy I am for having 22 pounds of metal driven into my skull!" bit.

Why do you think having a tattoo/piercing equates to being trashy?

Tattoos are art. There's no question. Whether you appreciate that art or not is the real question. Just like any statue or canvas - you'll either like it or you wont. Even if I don't like the particular tattoo someone has, I can appreciate the art behind it - as long as the person who gets it likes it that's all that matters IMO.

Tattooing is so advanced these days and they look much better, last much longer, the colours are more vibrant and so on - people still think of blurred, faded tattoos and those are a thing of the past if you go to the right place.

 

As a matter of art, anything can theoretically be art, so there's no real question.

As a matter of opinion, I find them disgusting and unattractive, and not just in a bad makeup sort of way. To each their own.

 

You can take a piss in a bowl and call it art.

Tattoos are cool, depending on the placement and what you get. Smart people would only get them on their shoulders and chest. < Jobs are a thing.

 

I'd say workplace tattoos are getting more common and will soon be the norm

 

This . Im seeing guys with sleeves and respectable jobs.

Ive got 6 tattoos and will get more. Though im taking it a bit slower these days as far as new tattoos.

I personally really like this tattoo. Over the past few years I have been obsessed with the third eye. I've been meditating and having enlightening dreams. While this could all be imagination and the pineal gland could just be nothing, I really think the concept of enlightenment with the third eye it is truly amazing and pure. (I'll save all the other crazy dimensional/alien/atlantis/necal/etc for another discussion)

Well I don't really mind tattoos at all really.
I've had the idea of getting a tattoo for quite some time but sometimes I think to myself what will that tattoo look like when I get older.
I mean like people get a mermaid or something and it turns into this horror monster.

I still like them .

 

I'd love to get a tattoo.
To me it is art. It depicts something often has a special
meaning to that person (well the majority of them).

The thing that puts me off is that with age comes wrinkles and well... they don't look great at 55+.

 

Tattoos are fine as long as they aren't on the hands or neck. Each of the three I have represent an important moment from my past.

 

Old people with tattoos look bamf as fuck, compared to normal xD







But the older people we see today were subject to old technology and bad ink - they'll look awesome when our generation are old IMO.

 

Interesting I'd like to see how out generation will look once we get older.
