god IS ENERGY.

I'm an agnostic, though I always lean towards athiest... I believe there could possibly be a god. More likely, something as complicated and seemingly scary as death, could easily have tainted the minds of the intelligent to coming up with a beautifully polished lie such as religion. I still believe there is a possibility and if it's true, god probably didn't come to earth as a mortal and probably is just energy itself. But could a god made of energy have a memory like a human, or would it be mere current existance like a rock with no memories or brain to process thoughts. And if this energy did have a memory (which I doubt), wouldn't we all be living through a seperation of one concience.

Hmm what are your thoughts on agnosticism?

 

It's a wonderful day to be Atheist; the sun is shining and I know God had nothing to do with it.

 

What if I said God existed, but not in the shape or form as written for example in the bible, but rather the believers' belief and worship makes God become real and living? There's no way to prove that (that's what I personall believe infact).

 

There's absolutely no physical proof that God ever existed, or even will exist. And by saying that, I do not believe in him until I see him for myself.

Has anyone ever heard the quote: "Eternity is a delusion of fear of aging"?

When you come to think of it, everything ends, and that quote is the very proof that humans are afraid of aging. So now wouldn't it be safe to say that "God is a delusion of fear of dying"?

Nobody wants to die, everyone is selfish to a point. People use God as an excuse to cover up the fact that they do not want to die, thus giving them the state of mind that there's an afterlife.

and yes i believe there might be some "god" out there, but if they are so powerful why cant they show themselves, why is their human suffereing?

Of course you don't.
So what's different between a unicorn and god?
Both are believed by people, but neither have been proven.
Even though God has a cult of followers and no religion is made of a goddamn Unicorn.


A Christian would say, "But Jesus HAS proven it! Just look at all of the miracles he did in the Bible! He healed the sick! He changed water into wine! That PROVES that Jesus is the Lord!" Does that make sense to you? Imagine that someone, today, were to come up to you and say, "I am God, and I will prove that I am God by healing the sick and turning water into wine!" What would you say? Be honest. You would not believe this person because:

1. Everyone has seen all sorts of "faith healers" who can "heal" the sick. And we all know that this sort of "healing" is quackery. If it were true, then we would not need doctors, hospitals or prescription medicines.

2. Turning water into wine... Doesn't that sound like something that a B-grade David-Copperfield-wannabe magician would do in a nightclub act? There are a dozen ways that you could stage things to make it look like water is turning into wine. There is no reason why a normal person would accept a magic trick as proof that someone is God.

3. Neither of these miracles can be scientifically tested today. Not one of Jesus' miracles left any tangible evidence for scientists to study.

It is as simple as that. If someone claimed to be God today, you would never believe it if the evidence consisted of faith healing and magic tricks. Never. Yet billions of people claim that Jesus' faith healing and magic tricks prove that he is God.

 

Then you're a Deist; not an Agnostic. This means that you fall under the Theist category.

I believe there is some kind of greater force in the world but I don't know about 'God'. I have a friend who was in a car crash a few months ago. She died for a few seconds. She told me she saw A path with daisies and she also said everything was peaceful, she also told me she was walking along the path but heard people calling her name.. so she turned around and that was when she came back to. I also have another good friend who has Ms. A crippling disease. He is 19. He has taken a lot of drugs in his life, and drinks alcohol quite reguluarly. Anyway, one day he tried to kill himself. Overdosing on his pills. ( I'm not sure which pills he took ) but he was in a coma for a few weeks. He died twice in hospital and just as they were about to take him off life support he woke up. He told me he saw hell and people suffering. He also told me he saw the gates of Heaven and that God was dragging him down a path. It sounded very convincing. I'm not sure what to think about that though but it did leave me open-minded to things like that. What do you guys think?

You can't see your feelings, smell them, touch them yet you don't question their existence?

 

Strong statement. I do believe in God to some extent but don't let it rule my life. I'm just waiting for the day he shows himself to me.

 

They're demonstrable. I can be lose a friend then cry, and that correlates to the emotion sadness; I can lose my wallet containing 200 dollars and I would most likely feel both sadness and anger. However, for god, he is neither empirically true nor demonstrable; therefore, I choose the default position, and lack a belief in god or gods.

Relating to your examples, why can't a Christian see the birth of a new child and feel thankful towards God?

 

Why should they be thankful towards god if they're living their life by a book and not the fact that the man and the woman both made life, not some myth.

 

You are failing to take into account that the people in my example are Christian.

 

They're free to do as they wish, but their actions don't diminish from the reality that such a being is non-existent.
