They are trying it even higher. When he said suspended in space was when it hit me, he had no idea if he ws falling or not and I am sure the first thing that went through his mind was "Oh shit what it I am stuck in space".

I've seen the video countless times and I did hear him say that he had no idea what his orientation was but never did I think that he thought " fuck im in space" LOL.

It is physics..Terminal velocity, is mainly restricted by air resistance. at 100,000ft the air density is 17g/m^3, compare that to the density at sea level of 1200g/m^3 and there is a huge difference. There was little air friction to slow him down.
