Credit Points System for Reporting Ban Evaders/Spammers

Well, i'm most likely going to cop a lot of criticism for what I am about to put forward but I think this is something that could be implemented in the near future, but would take time.

What I suggest be implemented:
A credit points system whereby for every report a user makes against another, whether it be spam/flaming/ban evasion, the user receives a number of credits against his/her name?

A credit shop would be dedicated to allow for the exchange of the user's accumulated credit points for Sandbox icons (similar to what you find on the right side of your profile name)

E.G 50 Credit Points [Which could be for 5 Ban Evasion and 10 Spam Reports] would allow for the purchase of a fashionable and aesthetically appealing icon

Purpose:
To filter out spam/flaming/ban evaders.

Possible Questions?
What about bullshit reports?
Those formulating bullshit and irrelevant report threads could be infracted heavily for wasting the staffs' time and for false reports

This would possibly raise the workload for Staff to deal with?
Isn't the point of every forum to keep it as purposeful and concise as possible without spammers/scammers?


Anyway, that's my idea. What do you guys think? It would take a while for it to be put into action but I think it'd be an incentive for users to keep the forum clean. I'm relatively new to Sythe but I can say that I haven't heard spectacular things about the forum. It'd be nice for new users to come into the forum with slightly better expectations

 

Would the reports not become quantity over quality?

If you were to do it you could have a moderator assign them dependent upon the quality of a report.

The amount of times certain members report ban evaders would make this just a terrible suggestion.

Not only that I'm assuming they want people to help the community out by chatching ban evaders simply because people want to help the community.


Also just to derail this thread, How do you expect points to accredited to users? per report made? what if the report dosent get somebody banned?

 

Incentivising members reporting others creates negative effects. That's why reports and moderation are based on merit, not volume.

nope, people would still go though and spam report make just for the ranks.

 

We shouldn't create a game out of reporting users.

 

Bringing an incentive for reporting users shouldn't be a thing.
While it'd be great to have people help us catch ban evaders, scammers and spammers, I think it would only increase the amount of incorrect reports and amount of spamming in order to get free miniranks.

 

Awful fucking idea. Miniranks are worth small sums of money, we dont need tryhards reporting every other post in return for monetary gain. There are plenty of people spamming reports anyways.

 

I can't support this idea at all. Why should we have to give rewards for reporting users? This is something we should already be doing for free, to keep a safe trading environment.

All I can see happening is the retards of the community reporting the 'Welcome our newest member' for ban evading just to receive miniranks.

No support from me. If you want to take the time to find ban evaders you should just go ahead and do that to make the forum safer. Shouldn't have to have incentive in order to do that.

 

You should report a ban evader or scammer no matter what. If you catch it, report it. Shouldn't need incentive for something like this.
