Sythe Ranks. (Extra)

Thats not fair. Ranks should not be given by personal bias.

 

Well, you must be new to this site (or any site, really) then. These "fun" ranks don't really imply that you're more trusted. It just means that you were/are involved in the community (specifically Spam Forum) for a while and got some people to approve of you.

Not sure why you reposted your previous post.. As already pointed out previously in this thread, these are fun ranks. They are not meant to have simple requirements to unlock them, because if everyone could get them their would lose all significance. What I think you are suggesting is that the current 'limited edition' ranks be available to everyone.. That's never going to happen. The minirank system is the closest you're going to get to unlockable ranks (and there are many of those that can be gained through participation in certain parts of the forum, or for competition participation, etc).

 

no there mustin be any sort of requirement for ranks, it's always been based on staff to decide who to pass them out too, and thats how it should stay, they arn't meant to be owned by everyone, as that devalues the whole point of it, hell i was the first non staff to obtain village drunk, and now everyone and there granma has it now, its not as appealing as one would think, hell i don't even pay attention to the ones i have.

give yourself a year or two on this site, and the whole i must obtain them all mentality will fade away my son, walk with jesus.

Funranks are and always will be "rare". They're given out at competitions on occasion or offered as an insentive for tasks. They are also given out by Admins to those who they think deserve them for what they have done for the site.

 

Usually that is where everyone gets themselves noticed. Very rare for someone to not be involved in SF at all and acquire fun ranks. I don't think OP is talking about competition ranks.

While I don't want to dig up old hurt, the recent drama contradicts your statement.

 

Just because people with funranks post in the SF doesn't mean that they have funranks because they post in SF. That's like saying "a lot of people with a funrank are American, so you have to be American to stand a chance". Ad hoc ergo propter hoc.

And the recent situation doesn't reverse 8 years of Sythe.. it was one person.

Anyways it isn't something to argue about, that list is pretty much how funranks are attained, not being active in SF. People are "noticed" being active anywhere.

The chances of someone getting a fun rank outside of SF is so low you might as well discard it. They would have to be promoted to a mod and do a lot of work before they ever get one.

 

Yes, "doing a lot for the site", e.g. as a thankyou for tenure as staff, or for winning a competition/challenge set by an Admin.

That is how you get a funrank typically. Anyways this suggestion has been derailed so back to the point, if there are any suggestions for minirank additions etc they can go here, otherwise, it's a different thread

You're kinda right with the ranks, but kinda wrong.

- Getting Staff
- Getting OMM
- Highly Trusted/Respected
- Fun Rank (can be obtained as a gift from an admin, winning a competition)
- Become a S.V.U
- Donor Rank

The only one I don't agree with is the mod logs on for being active staff, as I believe there isn't a set amount of modlogs to get one, as Roary didn't get a funrank until last week, and I'm pretty sure that he'd have met well over his modlog target. I think that they're just given mods as a reward by admins after a few months of good work.


There is enough funranks, no support.

 

50 vouches does not mean someone is trusted. We got limit of 4 fun ranks visible, it would look bad if everyone had 4 (max possible) ranks under his name. IMO Sythe doesn't need more fun-ranks.
