Sythe is down way more than usual

You can't stop these damn banned nubs. I have seen 6 accounts all using the same account scam, using the same email. Some never stop. It's annoying lol.

Seriously, it is down a lot. It's getting quite annoying.

 

You cant blame it, Sythe.Org is an ENORMOUS site... think of all the threads, posts, PMs, and members...

Now, when a mod is searching an IP (thorough search), it searches for that IP through every single member.... and all those member's IPs... thats a list of over 500,000 (most likely).

A lot of you cannot understand how much 500,000 really is, so you do not know how much processing power is used to sort through 500,000 IP addresses.

The site responds, but not fast enough. If the site is down for you, do not refresh the page 100 times... wait 5 minutes, then refresh, and it should work fine.

 

I'm all for scheduled IP checks. A ban evader will simply create new accounts, change their IP or use proxies. Banning them sooner does nothing.

 

Schedualed searches would do nothing, it would take days of downtime to sort through all IP searches

 

^ Exactly. If one IP takes down the site for about 15 minutes, imagine what a scheduled IP check that accumulates probably 500+ IPs a week.

The only way to really fix the problem is to purge the site. Which will most likely never happen.

 

Even off-peak IP checks manage to take the site down, just so you all know.

 

Would it be possible to store all previous IP addresses in a text file or something? Then you'd just have to download an updated file and check the IP's of the scammer against the old IP's in the file.

I don't really see the point in searching through the whole system so it crashes the entire site every time.

Edit: What I'm saying is, put the strain on the mods cpu and hdd instead of the servers.

 

It is possible, and it would be a harder way to ban IPs, but I guess it would work, but that would call for an admin to edit the VB Themes.... which i doubt they know how to do

 

I don't have the disk space to store the entire Sythe database on here, thank you very much.

Something needs to be done, I'm getting tired of Sythe randomly going down.. But I understand running this site isn't easy.

 

To be honest it's always like been like this but lately it's been up allot more and running perfect.
