Allow scamming of scammers without approval

Currently, you need approval before going ahead and scamming a scammer and even then its only up to the amount they scammed I believe. I say there should be no approval and that if a person decided to scam, they should feel an actual repercussion towards them because currently there is nothing stopping a single person from scamming besides the moral dilemma of the situation.

An obvious dilemma stemming from this is, "how can you prove they were a scammer?"

Well, in that case a person should be taking screenshots in order to prove the scammer is in fact who they're said to, and I mean if you're anti-scamming essentially you should be screenshotting in case a report does pop up on you.

I don't see this happening because who's to say you are in the right of scamming the person? I think there needs to be some authority involved, no support from me. Try again in 6 months, thanks.

Lol then what do you just get to keep the money? That's like "if you see someone who stole then take their iPhone". No. Even if it's to return it, they may have paid back their debts so you'll just complicate things

No support because some people are idiots. The reason behind getting permission is so that a mod can double check to make sure the person your accusing of being a scammer is actually a scammer. If we let people go around anti scamming there will be so many idiots going around anti scamming people without enough proof. Also some reports are private and only staff can view them so regular users wouldn't exactly know how much to take from the user.

Also if you scam the person for more than they have scammed your no better than them IMO.

I understand where you're coming from and I feel the same about scammers. Unfortunately when it comes to scamming/anti-scamming a scammer, it's obviously a touchy situation and I feel like staff need to be advised to monitor the process.

Add to the fact that the RAS section will become messier. No support from me.

Oh boy this would be hilarious to moderate in name sales

Yeah no support, some peeps would go full retard mode and scam hundreds of dollars over a $5 scam and say it's justified

I'm not sure what entirely you mean from this.

If you're talking about a scammer whose scammed someone else then I am not entirely sure how this concept would work so you'd need to explain more in depth of the method(s) that would be used to prevent people from abusing this.

If you are talking about a scammer whose scammed you personally then you can already do this without staff approval. The only thing is that you'd have to show PROOF of this to a staff member if a report arises against you.

I've got a better idea for you @Daddy Dropperz, why not just apply to become a Sythe Moderator and then counter scam scammers yourself. I'm pretty sure what you're mentioning here is in the Do Not Suggest list cause you're effectively trying to get non-staff to have staff privileges.

Too many variables where newcomers or new members will claim theyre anti scamming and it'll be a huge mess of threads of people complaining they got scammed by random people claiming they're anti scamming

This wont be happening. Theres been issues in the past with sectional moderators allowing anti scamming so even now only globals are allowed.

I couldnt possibly imagine the shit show that would be the runescape account or name sales market, let alone letting users like seraphic have the ability to make the choice of wether or not somebody should be anti scammed.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
