    Sythe Crawled for E-Mails

I haven't had to deal with this because I don't use Msn like 99% of the people on Sythe still living in 2008.

Move on, start using Skype. It doesn't require an e-mail to add contacts and is so much simpler than the clusterf*ck that is now Msn.

    Sythe Crawled for E-Mails

A controlled experiment has showed that Sythe is the source of this phisher email farming. While some phishers may do that, it is resource extensive, and irrational. A more effective method is to farm them from a popular site on the topic of which you are attempting to spam.

It's not that simple, sir :p. I'm not suggesting an upgrade to vb, but a fix for the number of bots and such that are crawling this site. Not even for email safety, but for site performance. A bot will load hundreds of pages consecutively to pull all of this data, simulating several hours of the average user.

The load this puts on the server is ridiculous, and the amount of times it must be done by different bots only amplifies it.

Sythe complains about server resources all the time, perhaps this problem is large enough to be noticeable on the scale we've been experiencing? A fix for this could speed up the forums, reduce down time, and free up resources for exciting things... like not spending an arm and a leg on a server you don't need simply so people can crawl your site.

Hell, how about we just save every email a user posts and put it on a page for bots and go "Here ya go, stop stealing our resources" ;P

MSN isn't 2008, and skype is stupid. The route of the problem still exists, regardless of your personal choices.
