Sythe API -- for third party apps/developers

This could be useful when taking Paypal, so you know who to report in case of chargeback

 

Anychance we could have a list of usergroups and there ID's? So we can hook the usergroup up to a group rather than a number?

No point. Firstly, the list would be outdated as new user groups were added. Secondly, and most importantly, you can never be sure that you have the correct user group for a user, since you only get the group id once - when they authenticate - and any changes after that date will not be reflecte, since you can only use the token once.

Regardless, this is pretty cool. Hopefully I can think of an application for this for my site. Currently the only applications I can see are IRC bots and gold selling websites, though.

Would love oAuth if that's on the cards. If nobody has time to implement that I wouldn't mind doing it for free.

 

Wrong, when the json call happens you could grab what the current group id relates to, a simple left join depending how it works back end.

Your issue is irrelevant, as they would still have the usergroup ID even if it was outdated. However I see your point.

Forums could also use it as a connection between other forums.

What is the usergroupid of a TWC user? Does TWC affect the usergroupid?

Edit: Looks like TWC users do not have a unique id. No worries.

Is this considered acceptable use of the token system? I'd like to post it on my thread if so. Gives me a little more control over who I allow to see my name lists without posting them publicly
