    Supervised Injection Sites

Hey guys i really enjoy this section of the forums so I'm going to attempt to start an intellectual conversation on the use of supervised injection sites.

Do you guys agree or find them useful through taking a health approach to illegal drug use, or do you see them as bad to the fibres of society by "encouraging illegal drug usage"?

Other opinions are also welcome as i look forward to reading :)

That just sounds like encouraging drug use. The money would be better spent on better rehab facilities.
Vancouver’s Insite yielded 13 overdoses per 10,000 injections shortly after commencement,[48] but in 2009 had more than doubled to 27 per 10,000.[49] The Sydney MSIC recorded 96 overdoses per 10,000 injections for those using heroin.[50]

I frankly couldn't give a shit about whether people are shooting up drugs and overdosing or not, but I do care that it helps curb the spread of HIV from needle sharing, so I'm all for it.

Definitely a fan. Being a former addict I've seen friends re-use the same needle up to 10 or more times per rig... it's like 10 cents for a syringe and still addicts are using dull ass needles. Lets not forget about shared rigs spreading diseases.

I like the idea either way, but I especially like the locations that will sell you the drugs. So many overdoses happen from people cutting dope with fentanyl to make some extra profit. They don't give two shits if you live or die.

How many people are going to say "Oh I can go to this place and shoot some heroin without legal consequence, I'm going!" if they didn't have a previous interest in the drug? Not many at all. I don't believe it would encourage drug use whatsoever; it would only make it safer for those that do choose to use.

I'm only on-board with the idea if the places also promise to have accessible services for recovery. Easy registration, mandatory pamphlet when people come in, shit like that. Nothing invasive but just letting people know there's a hand outstretched to help them if they want it. If it's literally just a government-sponsored crack den with no attempt at helping addicts recover, then no thanks.

If they use to lazy to spend 10c on a needle then why would they be motivated to go to one of these places. Why not just give them a bunch of free needles instead of operating a facility.

Sometimes it's laziness. Sometimes it's because they're judge/hassled by the old lady at the pharmacy. And giving free rigs isn't bad either but what's wrong with monitoring people during a potentially dangerous activity and providing professional help? I see no negatives
