Suggestions anyone?

So to put it kindly i'm a League of legends noob, I started playing about a week ago and i've now reached level 9. However In that time i've cycled about 10 different champions and still not found one I really like to play.
I'm like to play as fighters or tanks, and I'm trying to find a champ who's good to play, but not so popular that i never get a chance to pick them in game.
The champs i've played the most of so far are:

-Darius
-Zed
-Singed

I'd really appreciate any suggestions, as i'm a bit stuck as to who i should play! I'd like to find a champ i like playing enough to carry me through to Level 20/25.
Also, I don't want to play someone like Garen, I'd prefer to play someone who takes some skill but takes a while to learn, Thanks!

I see you like top lane, so i'd say renekton. He is a great early game carry. Lots of early dps (level 3). At your level it is really easy to snowball after a couple of kills, i'd really advise renekton.

ADC=Warrick all day.
Teemo= Carry build AP
Darius= AD beast will carry a team.

Udyr & Volibear are Great top laners / Junglers.

Jarvan IV might be interesting for you. He's viable even at the top lane, he can do really nice dmg, he has a lot of sustain, he's mana dependant so you'll prevent getting bad habits and he can be really game changing (his dash and ultimate are very strong and very important during tf). You'll learn a lot playing him.

 

[Aurola]

Riven and Tryndamere are fun, they're both very enjoyable.
