Suggestion for Sythe Name Changing! READ!

I support this as I made my account like 3 1/2 years back and quite honestly I just made a random name and now im stuck with it forever!

I really wouldn't mind hearing what an admin thinks.

 

They deleted the FireZ acct to change my name to it. But it was made by cosrob for trolling me in the spam forum long ago....

 

Id like the Marine part taking off of my name and to simply have my real name but its already taken by somebody. +1

 

If you've donated $100+ I believe you should be able to have a name change. If you want a name change, and can't get one, then create a new account with that name.

Also.. This is on the "Do not suggest list."

 

I wanted to make a new account, but I'm not allowed to take over my donor rank with me; which seems completely unfair. Anyways we're completely aware of this being on the DNS list. We're just asking for a change in rules, because as time goes on rules tend to change.

 

Hopefully this one will change overtime, but with great change comes great sacrifice.

I support this with Spyike's rules. I don't see how this would be a lot of confusion as long as it is handled it the right way (as the OP said, show old acc name, etc.)

I'd never change my name, but I've been in a lot of situations where I wished I could. This would be nice to have for many players, but ultimately it might cause problems.



My only problem with Spyike's rules is this:

Someone can remove their previous name from their signature and commit a scam/multiple scams before a mod notices and TWC's/Temps them immediately for removing it from their sig. However, since the first two requirements would make it so that you're virtually 100% trusted to begin with, changing your username probably won't help any scam. Eh, my $.02 at least.



As for the "Only Minor Changes" that Skele/others said:

Why even waste the energy to get this set up if people can only change their name a bit? This excludes most people from even getting this option. Rsaccounttrader, for example, couldn't really change it at all. What's "similar" to Rsaccounttrader? (I'm referencing him because he has already posted that he would request a name change, and he also would almost definitely fit any sort of "trust test" required for this.) Why is it fair that only some "trusted" members can get this option but not others? Sure, it'd be nice if someone wanted to capitalize their name or something, but that option exists with a customized username anyway.

 

I agree 100% with what Spyike is saying here. As he said previously, above $50 is a little greedy when it comes to donating.

Besides what Spyike said, I would love to have name changing implemented in sythe because for instance, i want to make my name "Ducky" and I think it's very reasonable because the account that already has the name ducky was made back in 2006 and has no posts at all.

 

What about _ in peoples names. These cannot access SytheIRC.

 

People on this forum who changed their names still pretty much had the same name they just cut a few letters off... its no big deal and those people were mods..admins who did a lot for the forum to earn it ... name change is a stupid idea you get the chance to pick your name at registration and you should not be allowed to change it...

 

This isn't as easy to regulate as everybody thinks.

I guarantee that multiple scams will stem from this unless they are incredibly diligent with maintaining their name changes. The risks outweigh the rewards.

 

For me I believe people like Hahanerd and Skele and Spyike and even Finn have had name changes but they cut off a few numbers/letters.

I like that, id like for us to be able to remove some characters of our name, but i doubt we would actually get a full name change. Id like for my name to simply be Clark....:love:

 

Still no feedback from admin level on this idea yet?

I do think name changes should only be small changes such as a few numbers or letters removed, Not a complete name change as someone mentioned.

 

You should know you went from Travis T to Travis.

But for numbers/letters I can see removed but me going from "Djweasel" to just DJ or Weasel would make no sense.
